Sources: Obama to visit Cuba next month

im not sure he would be welcome there would he?

if im scalia's family i wouldnt want him there

not welcome at Supreme Court justice funeral, but perfectly welcome in communist Cuba. yep, that about sums it up.

So President Obama is going to communist Cuba, but he's not going to go across town to Justice Scalia's funeral. So noted.

I hardly see the connection you make between a visit to Cuba and attending a Memorial Mass for Scalia......

But for your information the President and First Lady plan to pay their respects on Friday to Justice Scalia, who will be lying in repose at the Supreme Court,"…….

BTW

Can you let us know the names of the GOP candidates for the Presidency plan to attend the Memorial Mass for Justice Scalia?

Canadians have been visiting top class resorts for decades in Cuba.

But you yank bastards are gonna make it more expensive :2razz:

Lol, top class.

Once we yanks are back, the glory days of Havana will return! You know, minus the mafia thugs and what not.

not welcome at Supreme Court justice funeral,
And that is not unprecedented. 4 of the past 7 have had funerals for a Supreme Court justice have either had the president or vice president in attendance. But Obama is attending an event on Friday where Scalia's body will be lying in repose in the Great Hall of the Supreme Court

but perfectly welcome in communist Cuba. yep, that about sums it up.
Yea! That damn Obaaaaammmaaaa

Wha? Cuba hasn't become capitalist. They're socialists. Cubans national income per capita is about $500 a month. What, exactly, are they going to be buying from us?

What they will buy, once they see what it is all about, is capitalism.

Republican candidates are mad about this. It's quite funny.

Well, two of them are Cuban-American and ones family (Ted Cruz) was brutally tortured and beaten by the Castro regime.

How you find that funny is beyond me.

They find that funny because they want it to happen in America. They enjoy the suffering of others.

Given the choice of attending Scalia's funeral or going to Cuba all reasonable Americans would choose Cuba.

Didn't Cruz's father fight with the communists to over throw the peaceful leader of Cuba in the 50's?

Sounds cool.

The security is gonna be one hell of a feat though.

I think Obama will be safer in Cuba than the US. No one has a gun and no one has any reason to dislike him.

You mean the only skill a stand-up needs is being able to state the blindingly obvious?

So President Obama is going to communist Cuba, but he's not going to go across town to Justice Scalia's funeral. So noted.

Well, to be fair, he respects Socialism (which the Castro brothers stand for) more than the Constitution (which Scalia stood for). So it makes sense.

My wife is Cuban. I've been entering and leaving the country for well over a decade. That said, from my own personal experience, most Cubans are extremely curious about the wonders of things like having food delivered to your house after a phone call, credit cards and basic household items we take for granted (think along the lines of personal computers and microwaves). That said, this step is one which I think can benefit the US from an economic perspective. We have access to 13-14 million customers for some of our cheap and inexpensive goods.

We also have access to one of the most educated countries in Latin America. One which has figured out a way to create cheaper locally produced vaccines and medicines. The premise that we stand nothing to gain from Cuba as JoeTrump so eloquently put it is absolutely stupid and indicative of the general ignorance that cold war lovers have in regards to a country that is closer to us in terms of culture than any of our beloved dictatorships in the 3rd world.

This post is a perfect example of the kind of logic you get from one side vs the "logic" you get from the other. Everyone should read very carefully all of the posts for and against this move and see just how clearly one side is so articulate, well reasoned, based in facts and not emotion, arguing in a logical way and the other side is presenting just nothing but feces served up piled high.

Oh, I don't know....maybe someone will come up with something.

HAVANA (AP) — The Obama administration has approved the first U.S. factory in Cuba in more than half a century, allowing a two-man company from Alabama to build a plant assembling as many as 1,000 small tractors a year for sale to private farmers in Cuba.

APNewsBreak: US OK's first factory in Cuba since revolution

Lol, top class.

Yeah, I remember, as a kid, the older folks (parents, relatives, friends) talking about going to Cuba - casinos, hotels, resorts - much like people do now with regard to Las Vegas, Bahamas, Aruba, etc.

Awesome. I'm going next year. Hope to get down island a lot of details to work out.

I've been wanting to go (I have a 2nd passport, so no probs with that). The airline I have flight bennies on flies there every day, but the flight is officially a charter, until the new regs are in place. After that, I can fly there for free...wooo

So President Obama is going to communist Cuba, but he's not going to go across town to Justice Scalia's funeral. So noted.

And...if he went to the funeral, you would criticize him just as loudly (and it would be just as hollow)

Didn't Cruz's father fight with the communists to over throw the peaceful leader of Cuba in the 50's?

Batista? Peaceful? No.. But Cruz's father did fight on Castro's side in the late 50's. And Cruz's father was beaten and tortured, but by the Batista regime. Not Castro.

Well, two of them are Cuban-American and ones family (Ted Cruz) was brutally tortured and beaten by the Castro regime.

How you find that funny is beyond me.

Nope. Cruz's father was tortured by Batista's people, not Castro's. Actually he fought on the rebels/Castor's side for awhile.

My statement is still factual, you are incorrect. Ted Cruz's aunt was brutally tortured by Fidel Castro's regime. Ted's dad greatly regrets aiding Fidel's movement.

That "peaceful leader" was Fulgencio Batista. Here's a little info on him:

Back in power, Batista suspended the 1940 Constitution and revoked most political liberties, including the right to strike. He then aligned with the wealthiest landowners who owned the largest sugar plantations, and presided over a stagnating economy that widened the gap between rich and poor Cubans.[5] Batista's increasingly corrupt and repressive government then began to systematically profit from the exploitation of Cuba's commercial interests, by negotiating lucrative relationships with the American mafia, who controlled the drug, gambling, and prostitution businesses in Havana, and with large US-based multinationals who were awarded lucrative contracts.[5][6] To quell the growing discontent amongst the populace—which was subsequently displayed through frequent student riots and demonstrations—Batista established tighter censorship of the media, while also utilizing his Bureau for the Repression of Communist Activities to carry out wide-scale violence, torture and public executions; ultimately killing anywhere from 1,000 to 20,000 people.[7][8][9] For several years until 1959, the Batista government received financial, military, and logistical support from the United States.[10]

LOL. How is your statement factual? You said Cruz's father was tortured by Castro people when he wasn't. He was imprisoned and tortured by Batista soldiers. Even YOUR video link says that.

Now you're saying you are still right because it was his aunt? Aunt does NOT equal father. That's not even good tap dancing but you.
