Melissa Click, disgraced Missouri professor, seen yelling profanity at cops in new vi

Re: Melissa Click, disgraced Missouri professor, seen yelling profanity at cops in ne

^^^ This. In the previous incident she assaulted a student reporter, IIRC. However, in this incident, she was within her 1st Amendment rights, which protects all speech, especially the speech that offends.

As an employee she represents the University- tenure or not and such comes with codes of conduct. If the University did impose a penalty up to and including dismissal, they would in all likelihood have a clause where it would be sent to an independent arbitrator.
If the arbitrator upheld the penalty including dismissal this contractual clause prevents, impedes her ability to successfully sue in civil and overturn the arbitrators decision in the courts.

They can make it as much of an issue as they want to. Employers can usually fire if they want to make the case. She pissed of the Chancellor, they may make the case.

The truth is, if Missouri is a Right-to-Work state the employer can do pretty much what they want.

I want to say, that I am impressed that you found the information from the university in your link - and, that you obviously care a hell of a lot more about this subject than I do - but I am impressed, truly, by your research and the way you present your debate argument. Well done.

I agree. I was speaking as to whether she should be fired from the school for this action, versus the other one where she assaulted a student reporter.

The First amendment does not protect people from the consequences of their speech.

The First amendment does not protect people from the consequences of their speech.

Only if there is harm. In the video, there was no harm from her speech... other than maybe harm to herself by showing everyone she's a hateful asshat.

No. Sometimes they deserve it. She was in a position of authority and I think that is where the line gets blurred here. If she was some lady from the town, who cares what she does or says. It would have been a non-story.

whats her position of authority - teacher? lol

You're welcome to yell at the police, you just can't interfere with the commission of their duties.

My complaint is less the yelling than it is her, a white woman, suddenly taking charge, as if deciding all on her own that she needs to be the one to lead this Black rally. Notice how she pushes the black protesters out of the way so that she can end up front and center.

It's pathological and racist, and unfortunately all too common among White liberals. "They can't do this alone. They need Meeee!!!"
