Being reported on a lot of news stations that it was a false alarm and no signs of shots being fired.

if only the left enforced existing gun laws. Such as:


• 10 years—18 U.S.C. § 922(g)—for possession of a firearm or ammunition by a felon, fugitive, or drug user… And possession means touching a gun, any gun, handgun, rifle or shotgun

• 10 years—18 U.S.C. § 922(j)—for possession of a stolen firearm.

• 10 years—18 U.S.C. § 922(i)—for shipment or transport of a stolen firearm across state lines.

• 10 years—18 U.S.C. § 924(b)—for shipping, transporting or receipt of a firearm across state lines with intent to commit a felony.

• 5 to 30 years consecutive mandatory minimum sentences—18 U.S.C. § 924(a)(1)(A)—for carrying, using, or possessing a firearm in connection with a federal crime of violence or drug trafficking.

• The death penalty or up to life imprisonment—18 U.S.C. § 924(j)—for committing murder while possessing a firearm in connection with a crime of violence or drug trafficking.

• 15 years mandatory minimum—18 U.S.C. § 924(e)—for a “prohibited person” who has three prior convictions for drug offenses or violent felonies.

• 10 years—18 U.S.C. § 924(g)—for interstate travel to acquire or transfer a firearm to commit crimes.



These laws are rarely enforced, and would go a long way to stop bad people with guns.

And what, pray tell, leads you to believe that these laws are a) rarely enforced and b) suffer from a lack of enforcement because of the "left?"

I'm hoping this is nothing and there are no injuries. My husband worked there til last April, so we know a few people still working there.

Under this liberal administration prosecutions for federal gun crimes is down %42+ percent. Can you tell me how this administration and the left that supports him, are not weak on prosecuting gun crimes?

This seems to be a false report now.

No signs of a shooting at San Diego medical center, Navy commander says - LA Times

There is "nothing which substantiates" reports of a shooting, said Navy Capt. Curt Jones, commanding officer of Naval base San Diego.

Reports of a possible active shooter around 8:22 a.m. caused the medical center to issue an alert telling hospital occupants to “run, hide or fight.”

“Apparently someone said they heard three shots in the basement of Building 26. Maybe they did or not is not the point; that’s what they reported, so that’s why we responded accordingly,” said Jon Nylander, Navy spokesman. “We haven’t gotten any reports of any injuries.”

Two relevant portions from your link that would tend to negate your contentions:

The Senate, unwilling to stand up to the NRA, has allowed the ATF to drift without a permanent director since 2006. And so, Congress’ first steps to toughen enforcement should be to confirm the able acting director, B. Todd Jones; to provide the ATF the funding it needs, and to focus the ATF on interdiction of interstate transportation of illegal guns.

Unable to overcome a Republican filibuster and being unwilling to invest significant amount of political capital in order to make a political appointment is not the fault of the Democrats.

Congress should turn its attention to legislative issues like requiring records checks before firearms sales at gun shows or over table-tops and requiring gun dealers to conduct regular inventories of their stock to detect thefts and unregistered sales of firearms.

Given the opposition to any additional firearm legislation, or even to adding resources for the enforcement of current laws by Republicans, it would appear, at a minimum, that both parties can and should be blamed for a failure to reduce gun violence.

Within seconds of it hitting the wires there were two threads on this what now appears to be a non-incident. Here we go again...sigh...more gun violence...sigh...this is why we need more gun laws...sigh...

And not one thread on the day to day violence. Almost 2 weeks ago I pointed out that in less than 15 days already 100 people had been shot in Chicago alone. The response? Oh that's racist! Oh...you only mention Chicago because that's where Obama is from.

of course the dailynews slants it all theway to the left. in reality what i say is truth as shown by me reply to top cat.


enforce the laws on the criminals we have. don't make new anti-civil rights laws against law abiding citizens.
