Sponsor of anti-gay marriage bill is undaunted by $8.5B cost

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee lawmaker whose bill would bar the state from following the U.S. Supreme Court’s gay marriage ruling says he is undeterred by a projected loss of $8.5 billion in federal funds if the proposal becomes law.State Rep. Mark Pody said at a state Capitol rally on Tuesday that the proposal he has dubbed the “Tennessee Natural Marriage Defense Act” is worth any cost — and the Republican from the Nashville suburb of Lebanon disputed the estimated loss of federal funds.

Wow this one says "Supporters of the anti-gay marriage bill set to be considered by a Tennessee House committee on Wednesday rallied outside the Capitol in Nashville this morning. They also reportedly circled the building in a pickup truck carrying a large sign reading, "The Cost of Tolerance: AIDS."
Supporters of Anti-Gay Marriage Bill Rally in Tennessee, Say ‘Cost of Tolerance is AIDS’ - The New Civil Rights Movement

LMAO I hope thats not true, its probably not since it says reportedly and theres no pics. But if there was that only further hurts their cause.

Anyway when are these nutters gonna learn. Equal rights, laws and the constitution have won and will continue to win. Even more equal rights are coming and its because of people like them and bills/laws they pass and failed legal moves they make. They are actually HELPING equal rights and arent smart enough to realize it, its awesome.

Hard to believe that in 2016 a fringe minority of nutters are fighting to take away peoples equal rights.

That's a rather foolish slogan to put on anti-gay marriage banner considering that by allowing gays and lesbians to marry they'd keep their "gayness" amongst themselves and not spread the AIDS virus any further within their respective communities. (This was one of several topics those of us within the public health profession discussed immediately following the SCOTUS gay marriage ruling.)

It's stupid, but in their view it's making progress. Should we mock how much money was spent challenging state laws that banned gay marriage in the past?

that would probably be 0 since the states have had to pay the legal fees of the winners

but in any case, no, because one side is fighting for their rights and the other only to oppress

well he should taken away by the national guard without delay, just like a certain george wallace

these extremists think they can buy their way out of anything, so it's time to bring the hammer down

If this even had a remote chance of passing then the business community in Tennessee would raise hell like the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Yes vile, evil, nonsensical bigotry like that is always foolish, VERY foolish and it only gets them laughed at by normal people lol

Hmmm interesting?
How much money was that since most times they one and how are the two alike again? I mean one was fighting for equal rights and one is fighting against it.
I mean i guess that would be your choice what you choose to mock but if you think they are the same thats very weird and illogical. Do you feel the same way about money that was spent to fight slavery, for minority rights, for women rights? (yes as court cases prove they are the same in regards to a fight against discrimination and for equal rights and civil rights)
