What?

Sparring over 'similarities'?

Surely they jest!

Or perhaps not:

--

"Donald Trump lashed out at Bernie Sanders on Monday, after the Democrat argued he might pull votes from the Republican front-runner.

Trump’s retort? That he’s actually converting Sanders supporters to team Trump.

At first glance, the pair seem polar opposites: Trump advocates for building a massive wall to keep out immigrants and banning Muslims from entering the country, whereas Sanders advocates for a broad plan that welcomes immigrants and helps them assimilate. And that’s just one policy difference.

But both candidates are fueled by voters’ angst and dissatisfaction. Each argues that the system is rigged against the middle class and they are appealing to voters who feel disenfranchised from the political cycle and who lack traditional loyalties to one party or another. Both have galvanized the largest crowds of the 2016 cycle, drawing thousands to massive rallies where each makes the case that dramatic, systemic change is needed to fix the country’s problems.

Despite their key differences on who is to blame and how to fix it, they may well be drawing from the same pool of voters.

It’s a fact that seems to infuriate Trump, though he seems keen on ensuring that middle class supporters seem him as their ally.

I think there may be some truth to this. Both candidates do seem to be going for the disaffected voters rebelling against party status quo, though their 'solutions' reflect their respective political leans.

But I think it's great the unabashed capitalist and self-proclaimed socialist are having a dialogue. It's a conversation I'd like to see. And, I think it's an important one to have. But I don't think substantive exchange will take place unless both candidates win their respective nominations.

They are certainly both fishing in the pool of malcontents.

Here's some other similarities that Trump supporters tend not to acknowledge because they don't appeal to policy much but rather his vitriol.

Did you Trumpeteers know this about your candidate? Are these ideas now palatable because a guy with an "R" next to his name is now saying it?

Their main similarity is that both have a credible position that they are not part of the standard 2 party system. Yeah...I know...Sanders caucuses with dems but he is the only dem honest enough to declare his status as a socialist. Trump on the other hand has a long history of supporting both the GOP and rats and many of his positions are indistinguishable from theirs.

Both would have kind of a bumpy road as president. Neither of them have the skills Bill Clitnon has in bringing the two legislatively if not ideologically together.

Can we just postpone this til 2020 and put Bill in the WH for 4 years? The only stipulation is that Hillary would have to go away to an island somewhere. Not pedophile Island....Bill already has that territory staked out. No...she has to go somewhere else. Heck...maybe Hawaii. She can party with Barrack.

I support Sanders and Trump for saying Everyone should be against "free trade" deals.
