Provide me with the drug legislation that any of them Republicans did when they were in office, other than Reagan. You also remove tried to remove the accountability of the city of Chicago and put it on Reagan. That is pretty odd. Chicago is what Chicago decided to be. They voted for their leadership and corrupt politicians. It has been a cesspool for decades. That is on them, not Reagan. "Reagan did it" sounds pretty lame.

It's not left or right that killed Chicago, it's the corruption and abuse of power that has taken place on both sides of the isle. Chicago is as corrupt as a government can be. If organized crime ever took over a government, it would look like Chicago. There is no place in America as thoroughly and perfectly corrupt as Chicago. Others have tried, but they don't come close to the level of corruption Chicago fell to.

Richard Daley messed things up the most. He had the brilliant idea of bulldozing the high crime public housing projects I guess thinking it would eradicate the criminal element that resided there. Instead, the gangs moved out into nearly every square inch of the city where before they were concentrated in the projects. Relatively safe neighborhoods became gang territory.

I just did. Hoover's Federal Bureau of Narcotics and support for Anslinger, and Nixon's War on Drugs, which brought on the Controlled Substances Act and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

All impoverished urban areas are ripe with drug trafficking. This is due to 75 years of irresponsible drug policy that has pushed the street value of narcotics exponentially above the cost of procurement. Take for example mandatory minimum sentencing that required crack cocaine to be viewed in same as powder cocaine, yet crack contained 1/100th of the amount of cocaine hydrocloride as powder. It took Democrat sponsored legislation to allow a 5:1 crack to powder weight requirement to invoke mandatory sentencing.

The hard stance on prohibition is a pillar of conservative ideology.

I was mixing two different things you mentioned and specifically was addressing your point of granting rights, however, even considering unarmed cops is ridiculous. How many well qualified cops do you think would be willing to put their life on the line for the public waiting for the "privilege" of working armed. As I stated, some departments demand their cops are always armed, on duty or off. You think that will easily change? Look at the recent story I think was posted here @ DP of the two off duty cops turned away from a concert because they were properly armed according to dept. rules. As it is there is a downward trend of disarming average citizens, think things are going to change for cops?

Well yes I do. As you mention the armed cops were thrown out of the private venue. Additionally the NFL has taken the brave stand of banning armed off duty cops from its games.

So you have no interest in fixing Chicago many problem. You just want to focus on the gun and harass any one but criminals who have one. :roll: Carry on.

I think so. Back when he was running for Mayor of Chicago there was an effort to disqualify him because he had not technically "lived" in Chicago while serving in the Obama administration. Bill Clinton came to his defense arguing because he was functioning as a public servant, he was still a legal resident of Chicago.

I'm just going by memory right now so I could be mistaken.
