NICE, France – Valérie Aubry-Dumont got the news in a WhatsApp message from deep inside Islamic State territory. "Mom, you're going to be a grandmother," wrote her teenage daughter, Cléa.

When Aubry-Dumont last saw her daughter, Cléa was a 16-year-old girl attending Catholic school in a Paris suburb. After a breakup, Cléa met a young man online and within months the couple fled France to live in a
stretch of northern Syria ruled by Islamic State.

"I wish Cléa never had children," Aubry-Dumont, a child-care worker, says now that her grandson has been born. Her daughter talks some days of returning to France, Aubry-Dumont said, but is afraid of losing her baby if she tries to leave. “She is trapped.”

In France, the West’s biggest supplier of foreign fighters in Syria, the loss of sons, daughters and grandchildren to Islamic State has been a slow-motion tragedy. For some French families, the Paris attacks, while deepening the wedge between militants and the West, were a painful reminder of their ties to the enemy.

I think it's more an issue of young people who aren't brought up well. I'd bet money that the French girl in this story was raised without a father in the home. Notice the story mentions her mother, but there's no father mentioned.

100,000 white Brits have converted to Islam, and these are mostly young white women. The breakdown of the family is what's causing this, as well as emasculating white men by the media.

Is anyone surprised that some people from the countries in Africa and the Middle East where France had colonies have come to France? I'm not.

Actually these types of people come from usually wealthy and functional households, they turn to extremism because they do not feel like they belong in society and are outcasts. Extremists offer a place for them to belong.

Maybe you're referring to John Walter Lindh. He was raised upper class, but his father was a homosexual who left his mother for a man. His parents were very liberal and didn't really take an active role in his life. This kind of scene could definitely confuse a kid and push him into something extreme.

I was going to mention this. A lot of immigrants from Africa have flooded France. Especially from Algeria where France had a long war last century while we were doing our Korean war thing. Since then Algerians started moving to France quite a bit.

You mentioned our Korean war; why were there no Korean Terrorists killing Americans after the war for our invading and occupying their country? Or no Vietnamese Terrorists after the Vietnam War? Maybe it's Islam?

If white Europeans want to go and fight alongside these vermin, they can die right along with them. To hell with them all.

I'm glad to see an Iraqi force with American support, including attack helicopters, has just retaken most of the city of Ramadi. That may be a big step in driving ISIS out of al Anbar entirely, because getting whipped erodes their prestige and makes them less attractive to potential supporters. I doubt these jihadists can hold their own against helicopters hitting them with Hellfire anti-tank missiles from three or four miles away. It would take a very lucky shot for them to hit a helicopter at that distance at night with a shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missile. About the only choice they have is to abandon their positions in the city, or die where they are.

No, the break down of the family causes anger, confusion and vulnerability. When these are present in a young persons life you're going to see them act out in negative ways. Here's a few examples that stem from the break down of the family:
1. The black and Hispanic gang problem
2. Converting to radical Islam
3. The prescription drug problem
4. Teenage pregnancy
5. The synthetic drug problem
