Trump Support with GOP voters soars to 39%

Yup, that's the poll I'm referring to. Yes, most of those nine were horrified by the idea of a Trump presidency but have clearly resigned themselves with the possibility that that's who they'll have to go with. It's a year out from the election, and I see the writing on the wall: that nine is going to keep going up like a slow but steady trickle. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if come September you'll end up on that list when the possibility of a Clinton presidency really sinks in, as it clearly already has for those nine DP members.

It's a blind poll Cardinal, you dont' who ****ing voted for Trump.

Trump is accomplishing what Sarah Palin started and the Democrats have been unable to do - the destruction of the Republican brand....at least on a national level. Win the nomination or not, I believe Trump has already inflicted fatal damage on the party that they will not recover from, at least in this election.

The more whoppers this blowhard demagogue tells, the more popular he becomes with his base.
And the Republicans really think he's a conservative and will actually help the party? Holy crap! How deluded can they get?

They're not deluded at all. What has the Republican party actually done for their voting base in the last 15 years? How many times have we been told "I'm a conservative" and then when said "conservative" gets into office he or she rolls over for the liberal democrats? The Republican voting base has had enough of the Republican party and the so called conservatives because they are full of crap. If the liberal voting base was really honest with themselves they would realize they are in the same boat with the Democrat party. Frankly I think a lot of what "conservatives" tend to stand for or run on doesn't really resonate with Americans that vote Republican. If it did Mike Huckabee would have been the odds on favorite to win. We are so sick and tired of the Dudely Do Right mister nice guy who would never dare let a curse word escape his lips and is the first one seated in a pew on Sunday morning. It's a facade. As much a facade as the notion that Democrats are really out there trying to make life better for the so called "little guy". What they want is a real person, not a rehearsed professional ruling class politician. This is why Trumps numbers keep going up. Every time the liberal media or the ruling class attacks Trump it just reaffirms to the voting base that they have the right guy because anyone that gets under the skin of the elitists in the media and Washington is okay with the voting base who are disgusted with the absolute lack of any real leadership in this country. This is not about helping the party. The party hasn't done crap for us. This is about doing what is right for the country and ruling class Washington elites like Hillary and Bush are not it.

Trump has done nothing to that party. He's simply the manifestation of what it wants and the first candidate to throw away the dogwhistle and just plainly say what they're thinking. Yes, it's horrifying but that's not something Trump did to the GOP base. That's just the GOP base.

There could be some truth to your analysis....that's for sure.

Not this gal. I'll skip the Presidential vote if Trump is on the ticket. I cannot and will not vote for that chump.

It's insanity that he has any popularity anywhere.

I will likely vote for the Constitution Party if Trump is the GOP nominee and at least get counted as a conservative.

Also your thread poll has 72% against Trump.

I guess that's proof the GOP is gonna get behind him! I am so sorry, you are sooo right. With that kind of support against him, he's sure to be the guy! The tide for Trump RISES!!!! /rme

As I said, conservatives who were dead set against Trump are resigned to the possibility of voting for him now. We've got 11 months to go, and you'll see that number increase. Also, I believe that number will rise nationally among conservatives.

Would you like to make a friendly wager in the form of a donation to DP?

That I cannot do. I will however gladly change my signature to "Cardinal was right about Trump and I was wrong" for a month.

Trump's Support With GOP Voters Soars to 39 Percent in New Poll - Yahoo News

In a new CNN/ORC national poll released Wednesday morning, GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump boasts a double-digit lead over his closest competitor, picking up 39 percent support from GOP voters.

Sen. Ted Cruz trails in second place with 18 percent, while Ben Carson and Sen. Marco Rubio are tied for third with 10 percent.

I know...I know.....the usual suspects will say "polls this early don't mean anything"....but the reality is that at some point they are going to have to recognize that Trump is not going away anytime soon. His lead over Second Place "Mr. Green Eggs and Ham" is more than double.

Good news indeed as I was worried earlier in the week when Trump lost ground in one poll to Cruz and the difference was only four points. I think it was the Quinnipiac poll .

I really want Trump to keep going strong right up to the day after he gets the GOP nomination next July. Then let the deluge come.

Sounds good to me -- obviously I'll do the same in kind. Let's quantify the terms of the bet: Let's say come July the support for Trump among actively participating, right-leaning members on this forum doubles.

Trump's support comes from people who formerly sat out of the political process. Cruz is the GOP base's candidate. Do your homework.

Deal, however by then he should either be the nominee or out the race.

i'm somewhat surprised that Trump and Cruz are the frontrunners this close to Iowa, or that Trump ever had a viable campaign to begin with. there has to be someone in the Republican party elite who knows that Trump can't win in the general. i'll bet there's a lot of Machiavellian **** going on behind the scenes to push one of the not crazy candidates forward.

Trump is not using a ground game to gain votes, he is using the media to campaign for him.

Except for the morons cant figure out that Trump is a elitist. He is just on the other side of elitism; he is one of those guys with the deep pockets that the establishment politicians stroke.

In order to stay relevant Trump has to keep saying something offensive (Since Trump really has no real position on anything other than he is a dick). July is a long ways away. I suspect that long before then Trump will cross a line that will make his followers drop like flies. Just wait. Polls are a fickle thing that can change over night.

Well, we'll see. I made a bet in good faith and I'm going to hold to it.

Renae

When the road meets the rubber, most of us hope that trump isnt the GOP nominee

But let me make this plain as day.....if the choice is Hillary or Trump, the GOP will come out in droves to make sure that Hillary never takes office.

I will hold my nose, and vote for trump today, tomorrow, and every day thereafter to keep the hildebeast from ever taking the oath of office

And my friends and associates feel the same way.....he isn't our choice candidate....but when the other choice is so awful, and so dangerous to our country.....there really isn't a choice

They didn't to stop Obama and I doubt they will for Hillary Vs Trump.

The GOP party establishment has made no secret of their desire to stop Trump.

Who is this establishment? Their power? Are they some wizards that meet in secret? I am a long time member so I am establishment...Cruz is establishment...Palin is establishment...who has the magical 'establishment ' powers?
At almost 60% in the polls it is obvious that most card holding 'establishment' support Trump and Cruz.

I don't think he's campaigning on being a "conservative". He hasn't campaigned on the conservative staples of God bothering and making the rich richer.

and yet it's the conservatives who are supporting him. It's insane.
