Donald Trump’s ‘Campaign Misstatements’ Named the ‘2015 Lie of the Year’

Not shocking at all that a left wing organization would ignore all the lies from the White House in 2015 and choose a guy that has no power at all... yet, anyway.

Politifact - A Left Wing Organization because it must be if it uses facts to check statements.

Because Trumps "misstatements" are ever more serious then "I never sent or received classified email"

Let me know when that statement actually gets proven to be a lie and not just opined as such by conservative talking heads.

No, not really. This site is owned by, run by, and used by the left. This is not a new revelation Kobie. Care to address what I said from a factual basis or are you just gonna stick with attacking me?

A factual basis? How about the fact that liberal politicians are fact checked as well (including Obama being given the lie of the year)? How about the fact that conservative politicians cite to politifact for when they want to discredit claims made by liberals? How about the FACT that politifact and other fact checking websites link to their sources so that you can evaluate for yourself, independently?

A pair of emails on Hillary Clinton’s private server was indeed “top secret” when they passed through her machine, intelligence officials have concluded, according to a pair of reports.

The tentative finding comes despite opposition from the State Department, which had disputed the initial classification level handed down by the Office of the Intelligence Community Inspector General.

According to Fox News, one official called the decision to classify the messages at the highest level a “settled matter.”
One of the two emails has since been downgraded to the “secret” level of classification, both Fox and Politico reported.
Clinton emails reportedly still ‘top secret’ | TheHill

Sorry, but no matter how much you close your eyes and plug your ears, Clinton most CERTAINLY had classified emails going through her personal server. Think about it, the Secretary of State, in this day and age, you think it's reasonable they wouldn't receive classified emails?

Of course she received classified emails, but the question is whether they were classified AND marked as classified at the time. And you've got an article about emails reportedly still being top secret. Again, let me know when her statement is proven to be a lie.

I don't think anyone is legitimately shocked to find out that Trump has won the Lie of the Year, but it is a bit shocking that his campaign has produced so many lies that Politifact just had to apply the award to the collective group of his statements.

You've never handled classified information before have you? This is just sad, really. The suggestion that "well the emails were just emails, they were classified afterwards!" was tossed out there and has just enough hollywood movie logic to it, that people hung on to that as a "viable defense". Such Bull****. She was Sec State. I know, you're a die hard, partisan hack for whom all things Clinton are to be lauded, defended and reality suborned to your political needs, I could really care less if you accept reality or not. I just want to see how far you'll go to defend the indefensible.

I think it is actually based on people who vote on their site.

As someone who has dealt with this professionally, no, it's not. Classified material remains classified even when it is unmarked, and what is called Original Classification occurs at the producer level. Meaning that the only way Clinton gets information "before" it was classified is if she was the one collecting it".

Well, there you go. A very "scientific" way of determining which statement(s) are the 2015 Lie of the Year. Based on anecdotal evidence including what political lean is prevalent with those here that quote from that site regularly, as well as the political lean of the site itself as well as the owner and staff of the site, it's no surprise that (now given the revelation that the site lets it's visitors choose) they would choose a Republican rather than Democrat.

Although, even if Trump didn't win honestly, he sure gave it one hell of an effort.

In 2013, a conservative campaign to flood the site made "you can keep your plan" LOTY. As with all internet polls, its about organization.

Mr. Borrachos and I just got a Christmas card from The Donald. Surprisingly, it didn't have an envelope inside asking for donations. It did say "I love all of you" inside.

If the general election is won solely on who's told the fewest lies, Hillary will get beat by 40 points.

What a weird thread. It's got people trying to claim that the the obscene, false, divisive and often racist statements by Donald Trump deserve less consideration than whatever their latest issue with Hillary/Obama is... That's just silly. Trump has made himself the biggest news, and he's doubled down on his statements all in the name of being anti-political correctness. It's no doubt he'd make the biggest lie of the year that way. The one about the people being sent by Mexico being rapists and killers was a pretty disgusting one. It has turned the GOP's small latino constituency into a decidedly anti-Trump group. That's a problem considering Trump commands 40% of the poll but needs latinos to win Florida. Trump even has black conservatives on full damage control. Trump is an absolute disaster for a party that just months ago was discussing putting guys like Scott Walker at the forefront. It's not surprising that his lies would eventually put him at the very top of another competition.
