Can you explain the difference between
genetically modifying salmon in a lab after years of scientific research... and genetically modifying bananas over thousands of years to look like this:
Instead of this?
Literally
everything we eat has been
genetically modified over 1000s of years. Rice, beans, carrots, cows, pigs etc. There is nothing we eat that exists today as it did 1000 years ago. Even our
dogs have been genetically modified and bred for specific features. Why is there such a fear of people who spend their entire lifetimes researching these foods and making them better? I get fear of pesticides and the hatred for groups like Monsanto. However, the older I get, the less inclined I am to see "genetically modified" as the big boogieman that so many people think it is. We've only made our food better as a result of genetic modifications over 1000s of years, and today thanks in large part to scientific research. Why the fear?
