It appears that someone from Sander's campaign broke through the DNC firewall. But a quote from the Sanders campaign says:

He said instead that he was just trying to "understand how badly the Sanders campaign's data was exposed" by the software error.
"We knew there was a security breach in the data, and we were just trying to understand it and what was happening," Uretsky said.

Bernie Sanders campaign accesses Hillary Clinton data, gets suspended from DNC voter files - CNNPolitics.com
Bernie Sanders Staffer Accessed Clinton Voter Data
The Sanders Campaign's Access to the DNC Voter List Is Suspended Over the Breach of Clinton Data, Reports Say - The Atlantic

This doesn't seem like appropriate action by the DNC. Since the Sander's campaign fired the guy. What say you? Sounds like they were looking for anything to shut him down, and this silly thing is it.

This is ridiculous. Is the DNC going to suspend Hillary's entire campaign because she put the nation's security at risk? This makes the DNC look even more determined to have Hillary Clinton appointed instead of earned. I will never in a million years vote for that woman. This could be the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. There were circumstances where I could see myself voting for Clinton but the DNC's actions are despicable here. And why isn't the DNC punishing this company that allowed the breach in the first place? Sounds like this isn't the first time it's happened after all.

... I say you should REALLY change that thread title. It's only going to fan the flames of the crazy anti-Sander hordes. I'm not a supporter of the guy, but titles like that really misrepresent what actually happened. Sanders' employee -- at worst -- took advantage of a momentary lax in security. At least that's what the sources suggest. That the DNC is using this to shut down his campaign is ****ing dirty as hell.

Sanders isn't of the Status Quo, and the Republocrats only want the Status Quo out there.

Not to mention that I think the Sanders campaign found the breach and reported it to the DNC... then got punished for it. I forgot... who heads the DNC? Oh yeah, Clinton's old campaign director Debbie Wasserman/Schultz.

What's good for Hillary isn't allowed for everybody else.

Hillary took advantage of lax security and took a look at private campaign information?

The DNC and their PACs do not want Hillary taking the leftward positions needed to win the primary as they will surely be used by the RNC and their PACs to show her dishonesty during the right (centrist?) turn required for the general election campaign. The DNC is quite content to have Hillary run unopposed and be portrayed as Obama-Lite.

HUH? The title properly represents what happened unlike what the headlines suggest happened. The funny thing is you actually agree with my OP!

Agreeing with your OP and calling out the silly thread title are two different things. If Schweddy (DP's owner) gives members permissions he may not have otherwise, because he's testing some new gimmick, is that considered hacking? No. Add to that the fact that none of your links even mention the word hacking and you're fanning the flames of conspiracy theories. As I said, you should change it.

If the Sanders campaign simply accessed the data, like they said. It's the DNC fault and not the campaign fault. If the Sanders campaign were the ones that broke down the firewall like the DNC people is alluding to, then they have every right to suspend the campaign. Simply accessing unprotected data does not warrant the allegations DNC is complaining about.

It's unclear what happened that's why I put hacking allegations

She was Hillary's campaign director?

She was Hillary's campaign director against Obama in 2008. And now she is head of the DNC and schedules the debates. The O'Malley and Sanders campaigns asked the DNC early for many debates and Hillary lobbied her friend to have just four debates. So here we are with six debates with them being scheduled on Saturday and Sunday nights.

And now Debbie is the head of the organization doling out punishment for her friend's competitor.

And the Hillary coronation is complete.

Ugh. I still can't believe those debate schedules. I mean, seriously...who is watching a political debate on a Saturday night right before Christmas? Wasserman-Schultz did that intentionally.

I personally hope Bernie cleans Hillary's clock in the primaries.

Good grief:

DNC slaps Bernie Sanders campaign over data breach - CNNPolitics.com

The Sanders campaign moved quickly to contain the damage, arguing that the vendor who runs the database made errors. The campaign also fired Josh Uretsky, its national data director.

"On more than one occasion, the vendor has dropped the firewall between the data of different Democratic campaigns," Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs said in a statement. "We are as interested as anyone in making sure that the software flaws are corrected since mistakes made by the DNC's vendor also have made our records vulnerable."

Bernie Sanders Staffer Accessed Clinton Voter Data

The DNC official said that the glitch in its voter data did not expose any information to the general public and was only vulnerable to secure users for three hours. The glitch, the official said, was due to a brief software patch by the vendor, NGP VAN.

NGP VAN did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“The DNC places a high priority on maintaining the security of our system and protecting the data on it. We are working with our campaigns and the vendor to have full clarity on the extent of the breach,” said DNC communications director Luis Miranda.

The DNC maintains the master list and rents it to national and state campaigns, which then add their own, proprietary information gathered by field workers and volunteers. Firewalls are supposed to prevent campaigns from viewing data gathered by their rivals.

NGP VAN, the vendor that handles the master file, said the incident occurred Wednesday while a patch was being applied to the software. The process briefly opened a window into proprietary information from other campaigns, said the company’s chief, Stu Trevelyan. He said a full audit will be conducted.

Again, this was NOT hacking and NOBODY but YOU has called it that. It was an user getting access to something they would not have otherwise. It would no different than DiAnna, Spud, JBM or X-Factor getting access to forums where the mods discuss mod actions because Hugh screwed up a forum update. That's NOT hacking. It's not even within the realm of what is popularly considered "hacking" by professionals or amateur script kiddies. Changing the thread title to reflect the fact that NOBODY has called this "hacking" would go a long way towards a productive discussion. It's clear that you have no interest in that though. I don't know why.

1. Dude I am not a moderator, so I cannot change the thread title.
2. The definition of hacking according to Google: use a computer to gain unauthorized access to data in a system. Pretty much what happened, here.
3. You are the only one who has an issue with the thread title. People understand just fine. We are continuing with the discussion, with or without your commentary of what you think hacking means.

I think this is a thing a lot of people are missing. So I quoted it here again. They looked at her stuff and now her people are freaking out. The question is why? Wasn't she the one that just released hundreds of thousand of emails to the public?

Okay, I don't think you understand what this means in the least bit. The users were authorized to enter the DNC's system. Once in it, they were allowed to see information that the glitch made available.

That. Is. Not. Hacking.

I don't know the mentality of the guy who peeked. Point is, he's already fired. And I bet Debbie will drag this out to block the sanders from being able to reach Democratic voters to campaign.

So why suspend the campaign? It's clearly their (DNC) fault. Even after Sander's campaign pointed it out. Some folks in the DNC are making a big deal out of this. No difference than when the release of leaked documents are called hacks.

I love it. Sanders campaign was clearly bull**** from the beginning. His team is just as corrupt as Hillary.

That seems likely at this point. Everything coming out of the Sander's campaign seems to be rather open and honest and that the guy who was fired claimed to actually be looking into how badly Sander's information was compromised. But the DNC will use this to try to push Sanders far below Hillary since Hillary is the status-quo supporter.

Whoa! The DNC has rigged the game for Hillary since the beginning...this thread is ABOUT the DNC and democrats...how the **** do you drag the GOP into this?
