Latest GOP polls as of Sunday morning 12/13/2015

For the most part, neither poll really means much. The Iowa poll means something, like who might win Iowa, but given the track record of Iowa caucus winners, it also means nothing.

Agreed. I think New Hampshire is closer to the direction of the country, and Trump is only first with his name recognition.

As a reasonable person I recognize that out of the GOP field only Kasich, bush and potentially Christie are qualified to be president. No one wants bush, Christie is a blowhard asshole and Kasich should be a democrat. 2016 is going to be a wipeout for the GOP

You have the opinion that very few Republicans do.

I'm very pleased with the choices

Trump vs Hilary.

I can't stand Hilary as a person but she will make a decisive President. Another Margaret Thatcher. Liberals will be disappointed as she is the ultimate pragmatist. I also like the though of Bill being there.

Her cabinet members I'll get the job done or fired. Ditto for Trump. No messing around.

This is the time for an FDR or Reagan. Leadership. The debt is the thousand pound gorilla in the room...needs addressing. We also need a President who is decisive on foreign policy...in the next decade terrorism may mushroom from isolated events to mass nudes via chemicals, biological, etc, we need a proactive President.

After two dud Peesidents in a row...Hilary or Trump will be a plus.

Not surprised with Trump's rise, but am with Cruz.

Trump may see this as a positive. Cruz is like a buffer between him and Rubio. Rubio is the only alternative to Trump at this time.

The GOP establishment, as weak as they now are, do not want Trump. However, Cruz can and will support Trump. The establishment is even less of a factor if Rubio can't gain a strong second position a few points behind Trump.

Anyways, excellent poll for Trump. Excellent poll for Cruz who is making himself a serious force for 2020 or 2024.

I felt like early on and throughout this process that there would be a Trump/Cruz ticket. Cruz was my original choice for POTUS.

Liberals will be disappointed because she's a centrist, hawk and Wall Street lap dog. What a disappointment a Clinton presidency will be.

Iowa is extremely important. However, not for who wins.

It is a important for culling the pack. Who drops out? Who stays? Who can do better later on and gain credibility for 2020?

Iowa makes Cruz a contender in 2020. Trump just needs to survive it and not lose momentum. Rubio, in contrast, will need to do decently. If he comes in a distant third then what? He'll want to pull out in his own and not dwindle to being insignificant...he also is looking at 2020. Cruz will take over as the party golden boy for 2020 if Rubio doesn't make an early exit.

After Iowa it may be Trump vs Cruz. No more Rubio. Rubio will not want to be the moderate choice if he can't win. It will be a badge of death in 2020 to be the establishment candidate.

I love how people think Iowa is so important, even though you have to be the farthest right possible to even have a chance in winning. Iowa is only important because it is first. It's been a long time since Iowa ever mattered in choosing the direction of the race.

Iowa doesn't pick the winner, it narrows the field before sending it on. When you state:

I think New Hampshire is closer to the direction of the country

You are confusing "the country" with "yourself". The direction of the country is to become more ideologically consistent in both directions, narrowing out the middle.

I was speaking of the people willing to vote for those bottom tier candidates you listed. They are few.

That's going to fix itself as they all start to drop out.

They will drop out as their funding dries up.

Meanwhile like an addicted gambler they will keep playing until the money is gone.

The only realistic GOP candidates left are Rubio, Cruz, and Trump.

You just repeated yourself.

And you're not jesus. Get lost and come back with a better moniker.

I don't mind Cruz but after Bush Jr. and Obama, I'd prefer he first do a term as VP. I find Obama ineffectual and way over his head but may have been an ok President if he got his flight feathers as Hilary's VP.

Liberals will be disappointed but Hilary is nobody's lap dog.

She will govern as a pragmatist. Another Ironlady. I even predict she won't even run for a second term. She just wants to be President. It's something on her life's bucket list.

Obviously, they are best qualified therefore nonstarters for GOP'rs.

I agree she'll be a one term president. Castro will be the VP and will take over the role for the next 8 years. The GOP will struggle to stay relevant without a return to genuine conservatism.

I am more concerned with the lack of intelligence the GOP field is demonstrating. Appealing to the lowest common denominator is taking quite a toll on logic.

that pretty much is the liberal motto.

Hillary Clinton most certainly is owned by the establishment, there will be no difference between her and any other republocrat.

Oh dear.

Maybe we can compare the platforms next year. There are significant differences.

The Republicans are in deep doodoo since Trump is an obvious outsider who would wreck any chances of getting the White House back in the next election and has negatives that are sky high. He could make Goldwater in 64 look like a GOP landslide by comparison. The next guy - Cruz - is hated by his fellow Senators and also is not liked and is clearly a wing nut.

This is going to be great for Democrats.

That's just nonsense. Trump is a brilliant businessman with a degree from Wharton and Cruz is an attorney. Don't make the mistake of feeling superior because you disagree with them and their supporters.

Let them that way it will be a surprise.
