Donald Trump wants to 'close up' the Internet

Where do folks think the internet comes from?,....God via the North Star?? Networks/Service can be disrupted. Not for certain groups, but to entire regions that harbor and/or sow radicals.

Assuming there is a single big pipe that serves a particular you can certainly block that but what are you going to do about the dozens of smaller pipes that will sprout up to replace it in short order? What are going to do about the ISIS types who go to London or France or Italy or Greece or the US and start broadcasting their propaganda from those places?

I did not watch the "debate" last night, but my wife did. All night long I head her say, "That guy is nuts." "Oh, that man is a fool." "Good God, that guy is a raving lunatic." "What a effin idiot!"

After a while I went in and asked her to whom she was referring? She said, "All of them. Trump has mental health issues. The rest of them are simply crazy as hell."

Since 2000, the number of Americans killed by foreign terrorists is 3044. In 2012 alone, 6371 people were killed as a result of handguns. So essentially, one year of gun related deaths in one year doubled the number of victims of guns since before the War on Terror was even declared in 2001. In the past ten years alone, the number of gun deaths is over 300,000 -- one hundred times the number of people murdered by foreign terrorists.

But forget guns. Foreign terrorists are why we need to reintroduce torture, prevent Muslims from entering the country, eliminate freedom of the internet and kill the families of terrorists.

But we always have had "unique" priorities.

since 2000, how many women with guns in possession were raped? I think the answer is pretty close to zero.

how many lives were saved because guns exist?

As a commenter on another site summed up the debate: "What an embarrassment the GOP has become. The entire debate was a bunch of grown men (and Carly, whining that no one was asking her questions) bellowing back and forth "Obama weak! Stupid Obama! Me strong! Me kill ISIS", followed by lofty counterarguments like "Me kill ISIS MORE!!!!!"

This is a political party? It sounded like a bunch of barely literate pro wrestlers preening before a cartoon wrestling match. "

We have the highest rate of gun ownership in the developed world.

Based on that fact, allow me to ask a question that nobody ever seems to have a direct answer for: IF it is true that more guns = less crime, THEN why do we also have the highest rate of gun violence in the developed world, the highest rate of gun injuries in the developed world, the highest rate of gun homicides in the world, the highest incarceration rate in the developed world?

It seems like we're crime ridden. There were something like 1,100,000 violent crimes in 2013, if you pop over to the FBI website for its crime reports.

(I say "direct", because the usual response is some illogical and emotional counter-attack like "wouldn't you want a gun if a burglar broke in? What if your wife was killed by a mugger?" I'd like to rule out that kind of reply in advance because it just doesn't get to the issue of how it is we have so many guns and so much gun violence, if guns are so awesome at countering this kind of thing)

What I'm continually baffled by is, if there are twice as many gun-related homicides in one year than in all the foreign-caused terrorist attacked since 2000, why the focus on the latter? Is the victim of a foreign terrorist attack one hundred times deader than a domestic one? Do the families of foreign terrorist attack victims feel one hundred times more grief than those of domestic victims?

what I am pointing out is the other side of this equation. how many women get raped when they learn how to use a gun? Do police benefit from guns?

the sophomorics your camp engages in don't move me in the least. more guns should equal more gun crimes, just as more McDonald means more mcNuggets consumed.

Donald Trump wants to 'close up' the Internet - Dec. 8, 2015

Not sure which is worse. His apparent disregard for the First Amendment, or that he thinks Bill Gates controls the internet.

His whole bit about the internet in the debates showed how ignorant he actually is about it. He basically said he wants to call up bill gates and shut down parts of the internet. Then he said encryption is a problem so he'd just hire the best and break encryption of communication... as if this weren't already in the works. Never any specifics. His plans are such generalized garbage its just laughable.

At this point I'm convinced that this guy is a Democratic plant to ensure the Dems win.

I just can't believe that anyone would be so blatantly stupid, at the candidate level.

He's so bad that he has me longing for the days when Sarah Palin was the GOP clown that everyone loved to hate. Who knew that America could do way, way worse!

This had occurred to me but it would mean that Trump is one GREAT actor worthy of receiving a Tony Award. I just don't think he's that smart or talented.

Trumps concern is really about securing the Internet from hackers and terrorist. Obama has proposed similar legislation.

I can see it now... Once you get past your AOL login dial tone you are asked:

Are you a hacker?
Are you a terrorist?

If you answer yes to either, you lose your phone connection.

Back during The Cold War the Soviet Union persons here in the U.S. could just read the papers and watch TV to get an insight in to America's actions toward the USSR. We could not do the same there as the USSR was a closed society. Because of the potential magnitude of terror in the future I think the constitution may need some mending. Let's wait and see how many Americans will trash certain freedoms for the right to remain alive. As long as our leaders refuse to send in troops to crush this ever growing worldwide movement. Besides, you are already being spied on and you know it.

"Awwww yeah, baby, I'm a terrorist, alright...of love."

[line goes dead]

"Crap...no...that was a joke...a joke!"

Problem: sending in ground troops is exactly what ISIS wants the U.S. to do.

How do you get your internet? Phone System? Cable/modem? Cell-Tower? Easy Peasy to destroy the infrastructure that sends and receives the signal to your computer/cell-phone.

Has anyone talked to Bill Gates yet? :ninja:

Why would you think someone would be dependent on a single cell tower or even all the cell towers in an entire region? As I pointed out before all the ISIS guy has to do is go to France.

His history with the democratic party proves otherwise.

You can be a total nutjob and still be a RINO. It's not like the Dems are the salt of the earth either.

Trump is about money and power. He'll say he believes in whatever the politic du jour is just to get votes. There have been enough gaffs for his motives to be totally transparent.

When I watch someone like Trump speak, I begin to question whether this reality is real. heh
