'Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter delivered an unexpected message on Sunday to the several hundred people gathered at a Baptist church in Georgia for his Bible lesson - his latest brain scan showed no sign of cancer.

Carter, 91, started treatment in August for melanoma that had spread from his liver to his brain. A previous MRI test showed the four spots of cancer that had developed on his brain were responding to treatment, he said.

"When I went this week, they didn’t find any cancer at all, so I have good news," Carter told the crowd at Maranatha Baptist Church in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, according to a video from NBC News.

The former Democratic president, known for his unassuming style, offered a quick smile as people who had come for the Sunday School class he teaches gasped and clapped.

In a brief written statement afterward, Carter confirmed his most recent brain scan "did not reveal any signs of the original cancer spots nor any new ones."

He said he would continue to receive regular doses of pembrolizumab, a new treatment that is part of a promising class of drugs that harness the body's immune system to fight cancer. The immunotherapy is manufactured by Merck & Co under the brand name Keytruda.'

Jab? And who is it that labors night and day to take Christ out of "Christmas", and make it politically offensive to even say the word, "Christmas"...? Right-wing Conservatives?! ("Remember, from now on we must call it a 'holiday tree'... wouldn't want to OFFEND anybody, now would we...?")

Nevertheless, I'll repeat my happiness at President Carter's victory over cancer. May God give him long and happy life! Funny how it still surprises some hyperlibs to learn that in his 1976 campaign for the presidency, Jimmy Carter revealed to the world that he was an evangelical born-again Christian and a Southern Baptist! :)

I'm not sure why you had to bring the so-called "war on christmas" into this, but news flash: nobody is offended by the word "Christmas." When Target puts up signs saying "Happy Holidays," they aren't being politically correct. They're marketing. See, some genius eventually realized that some people celebrate Hannakuh instead of Christmas, and it's about the same time of year, and people buy stuff. So if you market to both groups, you sell more to both groups. And by the way? "Happy Holidays" was never "PC" to begin with. The original phrase was "Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year," but screw saying that many syllables so people started just saying "Happy Holidays" to include both. They weren't offended by Christmas. They were just lazy.

The tree in the White House is called a Christmas Tree by everybody. Including Obama. It literally arrives in a big green wooden cart with red wheels and a sign saying "WHITE HOUSE CHRISTMAS TREE." There's video. That email forward or Facebook share you get every year is wrong every year.
