Donald J. Trump said Wednesday that in the battle against the Islamic State, the families of terrorists should be targets, saying they were using their relatives “as shields.”“We’re fighting a very politically correct war,” Mr. Trump said, adding, “The other thing with the terrorists, you have to take out their families.”
“They say they don’t care about their lives,” he added. “You have to take out their families.”
Mr. Trump, who often calls himself the “most militaristic person there is,” has risen in polls recently amid fears of terrorism in the United States after the Nov. 13 attacks in Paris, which killed 130 people.

"Take out their families"? What happens if they literally have nothing to do with the attack or the family member who is a terrorist? Just cuz they share the last name they need to be "taken out"? :shock:

:shrug: I loathe Trump, but that would raise the stakes and, if done intelligently, be effective. Often, for example, death graduities and subsidies are paid to families of fighters. The Israelis have used punitive bulldozing to effectively mitigate those benefits.

For many of the foreign fighter populace, the likelihood is significant if not more than likely. That's why a blanket policy would be stupid.

I am totally opposed to continuation of Obama's drone/missile campaign against "suspected" terrorists and whomever happens to be around them when they are having their afternoon tea. Obama claims that he has improved this someone, and only targets "suspected" terrorists and their male children. Trump's plan goes back to early Obama drone strikes.
It is so un-American to murder "suspected" anything.

Agreed. Let us send over a list of suspects to the Islamic State and see if they will agree to deport them for trial. We should also likely train our troops to shoot injunctions instead of bullets, which might accidentally harm someone we suspect of fighting a war against us :)

I guess we should just let their families who have lived under radical Islam just walk free?

Not supporting killing them but don't expect these people to be safe.

Trump is a clown, trying to capitalize on every event he can. It's smart, seems to be working, hyperbole, exaggeration and all. but he's figured out the whole "bread and circuses" routine.

When i was younger, I used to be against the Israeli approach of demolishing the homes of the family of suicide bombers. At this point in life I just no longer give a damn.
