Viral video: Fredericksburg man confronted by anti-Muslim rant speaks

Hmm, OK then. I happened to know Muslims that did, but I guess you're the god of who is Muslim and who isn't. So end of story.

Actually, I work for an Iranian owned contracting company right here in Houston. I know lots of Muslims, and they are all pretty cool. And here in Houston, the Islamic community and the Jewish community get along just fine, do business with each other on a regular basis, and even go out to restaurants and clubs together. At the clubs the Muslims drink only soft drinks, while the Jews can have wine, but wine only.

That second part is odd. All you ensure by such a change is that you make the laws easier to change. This generally has not had the effect you might imagine throughout history.

Not really. It means that you do not allow for theocracy. Which has had the effect I would imagine throughout history.

I see that you are waiting with baited breath for a response that you wont get.

Yeah, I assumed you'd have a solution or at least an idea if you thought something was the biggest theat the US faces....but I guess you just have pointless complaints, no solutions, and empty rhetoric. Sorry, figured with such grand hyperbole you'd actually have something substantive to say to actually make it somethjng other than worthless. My mistake.

XMas has been used since the 16th century. X replacing Christ is common and has been used often. Just because Google doesn't return many hits on Xstains doesn't mean that X has been used as an abbreviation for Christ.

Go ahead and "call out" on it, see ya in the 16th century combating all those people denigrating Christianity, lol.

actually it does, it was certainly able to prove that xmas is a common abbreviation. Xstain is a made up word, by you (the op used xistian - 2,500 google results) for the purposes of furthering your anti-religious rhetoric that you vilely spew with every post you get a chance to.

Did you clear that with clownboy? They may not be real Muslims.

I didn't use it, so maybe check your facts. I was merely stating that X is Chi, and has long been an abbreviation for Christ, and used in this context of Xstain, it's the same.

That's probably because the abbreviation in question is Xistian, not Xstain

Though on my tablet I can't see how many Google results that generates.

good point, glad you brought that up

xistian has just 2,560 google results

It is a made up abbreviation by the OP for the purposes of insulting the Christian religion.

But if someone tries to mock a smart person by calling them "genius", is it an insult? Or a failed insult? It's not an insult if it's true, IMO. Why is there anything to care about the use of "xstain"? X has long been established to be Chi, and to be a recognized abbreviation of Christ. Using it in this context doesn't change it.

Like I said, far better ways to insert insults than using a valid and recognized abbreviation.

So you don't think people who routinely refer to Obama as "Hussein" when expressing their dislike for him or his polices are doing it to insult him, they're just doing it because it's a valid and recognizable part of his full legal name, because if they really meant it as an insult they'd say something more blatant like Odummer or Monkey?

I'm not asking if there are "better" ways, I'm asking if you acknowledge that some people do use it as a means of insulting/antagonizing/angering.

Absolute lie. There is no way any Muslim, other than in name only supports homosexuality, abortion or the West's concept of woman's rights. And FYI, Muslims revere Jesus too.

Ah, I see you've jumped on the Obama train of logic that says you have the authority to declare whether or not someone is a "real" follower of a religion based on whether or not you think they're following the religion in the way you think is correct.

He's wrong when he does it, and so are you. There are plenty of practicing Muslims who support western ideals regarding homosexuality and women's rights. You have no grounds or station to declare them as being in "name only" simply because you disagree with their interpretations of their beliefs and what it requires of them.

So you don't think people who routinely refer to Obama as "Hussein" when expressing their dislike for him or his polices are doing it to insult him,

I think they try to use it as an insult, or rather to imply (incorrectly) that he is a Muslim. But he isn't a Muslim, and the use of his middle name to indicate as much is rather stupid, so I tend to ignore it. No skin off my teeth.

I prefer Bushama. I think it's a better insult.

Paging Pauline Kael, Paging Pauline Kael.

actually you did as I pointed out the op used "xistian" and you made up your own "xstain"

if you were going to take the Christ out of Christian with an X the term would actually be "Xian"

The fact is none of those are common or even uncommon abbreviations, pretty much no one uses them and in the context of this thread they are being used as an insult

Not really. It means that you do not allow for theocracy. Which has had the effect I would imagine throughout history.

Wrong. In such an arrangement, where the state ultimately has control of the law, and the individual is subject, there is no recourse and the leader of the state becomes deified.

Jesus tap dancing christ, I'm not using xstain as an insult, I just didn't add the "i". For ****'s sake some of y'all are touchy.

Xian is a place in China, you need to differentiate it a little.

That's fine. I wasn't suggesting people should get upset about someone using Xistians. I wasn't suggesting Xistians was a GOOD insult. I wasn't suggesting that it'd be an insult you'd prefer to use.

What I was simply suggesting was that while its correct that one shouldn't assume anyone using such a word is doing it to insult, that it's also not correct to assume anyone using it ISN'T meaning it as an insult. That it can be used in either fashion. That it being an archaic abbreviation doesn't inherently mean someone isn't using it for the purpose of antagonizing as opposed to simple brevity.

Not wrong. Upholding the freedom of religion and ensuring that the laws are laws of man, not laws of god, is to ensure against theocracy. The State does have control of the law, they write and enforce it. Our politicians are anything but gods.

Yes, but then you can sarcastically call them a genius for having tried to use a known abbreviation as an insult.

ohh, im sorry, was i not being sensitive to xistians feelings? Do you want me to be more PC so it doesnt hurt as much?

People say that liberals side with muslims. I say, no. xistians are the biggest threat to the US. They are the ones that hold partial power to instill xistian laws. Being an Athiest, I dont give a rats s**t about any religion. It's all silly nonsense. I will say this, extreme islam is still in the pre-stoneage unlike the xistian religion(s). So I do give props to the incremental progress that they have made. All religions are nothing but feel good fables, but my concern is for the US is those that are in power that want to instill religious flavor legislation.

ohh, and i like to point out the xistian/white-wing hypocrisy when it comes to "religious feedom"

"I swear, so much f***ing hate."

Physician, heal thyself.....

Xian is a place in China, you need to differentiate it a little.

I don't think you typed Xstain as an intentional insult. You were unconsciously mimicking what another poster wrote.

But they are correct....X is shorthand for Chi which was an abbreviation for CHRIST, and as such to correctly claim it as an accurate historical abbreviation, it would be Xian, not Xistian.

While Xian is a place in China, context would make understanding what is being meant much easier. Reading is also a city in Pennsylvania, but we don't have to alter the spelling when we're talking about what action we take with a book or newspaper simply because they're being spelled the same.

If someone's argument is that "it's not intended to be antagonistic, I'm just using a historical abbreviation", then it'd behoove them to use the actual abbreviation. Otherwise, such a lack of detail would seemingly be a good indicator that the use has far less to do with using a proper abbreviation and far more to do with another desire.

(Note, not saying you're using it as an insult. Your only use of it in this thread seemingly has been to explain that it technically is a [incorrect] abbreviation)

Okay, this made me literally laugh out loud at my office.

Man...this really ballooned out of control. Ultimately, I don't really care that much and I use the word Christian and misspellings of that because I'm a terrible speller. It was likely meant as an insult, but it was a dumb one. It's nothing to lose any sleep over. My suggestion, I believe, was a lot more creative.

It seems strange that the fringe left is so anxious to align itself with Islam when their values are so diametrically opposite. Islam will NOT change it's position on being violently anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti women's rights, etc., etc.

The OP's post professes concern over other's "hate" yet at the same time cannot refrain from insulting Christianity by using an "x" instead of the word "Christ."

Hypocrisy and hate everywhere, the vast majority coming from the fringe left that controls the Democrat party.

Interesting that all Christians are grouped together (if you are a Christian than you believe X) quite often, but the distinction is made between moderate and radical Muslims. If you are going to take the Christian Bible seriously and literally you have a lot to defend. And you can be certain that there will be plenty of atheists out there to point out what you are supposed to think. The same people will defend Islam though, ignoring that if you are going to follow it literally you are required to convert or kill other believers. Quite the double standard actually, considering that the core tenants of Islam are quite far removed from what American liberals want.

At the pace and direction we are headed it is only a matter of time before we have muslim attacks happening here on a regular basis. There will be more muslims, and statistically speaking the more we have the more likely a radical will present. When that happens it would be handy to not only know who it muslims are, but also the liberals who support them. That way we can wait until the muslims have killed the liberals, and THEN take them out. Then make sure the muslims know that not only did that guy die and get buried with a pig carcass, but that his entire village was leveled, ending his blood line. Eventually perhaps the muslims will find someone easier to target and the liberals will either be eliminated or understand the folly of their ways. You can't pretend it will all be OK to make yourself feel enlightened and ignore being killed by terrorists. Liberals are retarded but you'd have to be comatose to not figure it out eventually.

Also...

This guy is dumb. Those in that room cheering him along was dumb. The guy trying to organize the mosque was rather naive to ignore his own instinct that it may be wise to wait a week or so after Paris to bring this up because of this very reason though. Ultimately, stafford will likely approve it, but it'll have more opposition now than had this story not happened.

As is the case with a lot of things, town halls tend to bring out those who are angry far more often than those who are supportive (parks and rec lampooned this wonderfully). Sadly, there are stupid people in this world.
