Ahmed Mohamed demands $15m compensation and written apology for homemade clock arrest

Re: Ahmed Mohamed demands $15m compensation and written apology for homemade clock ar

Better be sure who is really filing this lawsuit. [CAIR]

The kid did all of this on purpose, probably at his father's bidding and now they want to get paid for no harm.

It' ain't happening in TX.

Yes, yes, we know. Zee evil Muslims, anywho - I'm going to wait for you to find that clause in the Patriot Act. You know, the one that says the government has the authority/power/right to deport US citizens because of lawsuits.

This whole family is a hoax.

How successful are lawsuits brought against police departments who interrogate kids without their parents or a lawyer present?
Despite the title:

Police Violated Ahmed Mohamed?s Civil Rights by Keeping Away His Parents - The Daily Beast

From the description I don't get he was interrogated without a lawyer or denied a call to his parents:

Mohamed explained it was simply a clock, but the teacher confiscated the clock. Soon after, Mohamed was summoned to the principal’s office, where he was met by not one but five police officers.

When Mohamed asked to call his father, the police refused to let him, according to Salem. Instead they searched his backpack, confiscated his iPad and pressured him to write a statement, Salem said. Mohamed, an American citizen, was aware of his rights and told the police he didn’t want to make any statement until his dad arrived. Salem said police continued to pressure Mohamed until he was fighting back tears. Finally, the family wrote a short statement for Mohamed:

“I built a clock. The police think it’s a bomb.
Plus that's his version.

What Koolaid? I'm just asking you to validate the silly notion that the government can take away somebody's US citizens over lawsuits or building clocks.

Police Violated Ahmed Mohamed?s Civil Rights by Keeping Away His Parents - The Daily Beast

Mohamed, a freshman at MacArthur High School, insists he repeatedly asked officers to call his parents while being interrogated. Mohamed was questioned at the school, then taken in handcuffs to a juvenile detention center, where he was fingerprinted and interrogated without his parents present, according to police and Mohamed.

Thereyago.

Re: Ahmed Mohamed demands $15m compensation and written apology for homemade clock ar

Yeah, he was traumatized.

I'm still traumatized by the Muslim prayer cloth in that *clock* box.

"Muslim prayer cloth." :lamo

I think they have a high success rate. As to how much if they win, well that would be up t the court if it was success.
Apparently on this board, according to some, Muslims should not be permitted to sue, or have any constitutional rights.
Perhaps they need an Amendment to the Constitution - Whites only.

Thereyago.
That's the first paragraph, which seems a quite inaccurate summary of the more elaborate description of what happened later in the article. But reading more than a few lines is hard, I understand buddy.

Re: Ahmed Mohamed demands $15m compensation and written apology for homemade clock ar

You know if they're so desperate for money that they felt they needed to file this Lawsuit, why don't they just patent Ahmed' Clock ?

An " invention " so impressive it earned Ahmed a trip to the WH and trips to a few late night talk shows.

Re: Ahmed Mohamed demands $15m compensation and written apology for homemade clock ar

That can be revoked. Don't let their trashy butts return to the US.

Come on, man...we need more 'inventors' like him...right?

Well...there would be the lawsuits for patent infringement, theft of intellectual property, etc.

There are only two ways about this. Either his parents/lawyer were present when he was interrogated or they weren't. Your source (The Daily Beast), says they weren't. Are you now going against your own source's statements?

Lawsuits are filed every single day by people who aren't desperate for money. Some people file lawsuits on principle. This seems to be the case. Or do you feel police departments should interrogate people without legal representatives present?

Regardless of merit, does he not have the right to sue?

Re: Ahmed Mohamed demands $15m compensation and written apology for homemade clock ar

I see the usual suspects are out in full force.

Anyone doubting this kid's Americanism (?) should rethink that, since filing an over-the-top lawsuit is pretty much as American as apple pie.

Re: Ahmed Mohamed demands $15m compensation and written apology for homemade clock ar

Didn't see this coming....

The little bastard and his parents need to be deported.

Oh that's right, they self-deported.

That's why I strongly dislike this kid. He received so many free college scholarships at great Universities and STILL went to the middle east. Good riddance.

Re: Ahmed Mohamed demands $15m compensation and written apology for homemade clock ar

Crap, I pasted the wrong Daily Beast link:

Ahmed Mohamed Is the Muslim Hero America?s Been Waiting For - The Daily Beast

When Mohamed asked to call his father, the police refused to let him, according to Salem. Instead they searched his backpack, confiscated his iPad and pressured him to write a statement, Salem said. He was apparently aware of his rights, didn't make a statement until his had arrived and apparently his family (dad) made the statement. So his dad was called.

He isn't any kind of American, he decides to move to the middle east after being offered numerous scholarships. Black kids that get arrested for nothing are lucky to get a normal job.

Re: Ahmed Mohamed demands $15m compensation and written apology for homemade clock ar

Hatuey beat me to it. Denying a minor access to parents alone is enough to file a lawsuit.

Also:

1. It was a clock.

2. You gotta love the complete hatred and rage that is being directed at a fourteen-year-old kid. Seriously, what the ****?

True, it was a clock, but $15M!?! I admit I came to the kid's defense because I thought that the way he was treated was unfair, but $15M!?! You have got to be freaking kidding me!

It's not like the kid and his family were run out of town. They left of their own accord. I can see bringing a reasonable lawsuit against the city and school district for how the kid was treated and for violating his civil rights. But physical harm and mental anguish? C'mon! The kid went to the White House on the President's invite. I don't think he was in that much agony since he (and I'm sure members of his family, as well) accepted the invitation.

On this one, I'm calling f***ed up and foul.

"He decides." Yes, I'm sure the 15-year-old kid is the one pulling the strings in that family.

No one as far as i can see agrees with the 15 M. That said, if his rights were violated, he has a decent case. And no way in hell will he get 15 M.
As mentioned earlier about suing, not the exact phrase, but boils down to, when suing, sue high.
You do not sue for a lower number and hope to receive a higher number in judgment.
