NEW YORK (AP) — Former “Two and a Half Men” star Charlie Sheen has HIV.
In an interview Tuesday on NBC’s “Today,” the 50-year-old Sheen said he tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS.

But when asked by “Today” co-host Matt Lauer if he had transmitted the disease to others, he declared, “Impossible. Impossible.”
He said he was diagnosed about four years ago. He said one reason for going public with his condition was to put a stop to shakedowns from prostitutes and others who threatened to out him. He said he had paid “enough to bring it into the millions” — perhaps as much as $10 million — to buy their silence and now was seeking to “put a stop to this barrage of attacks and sub-truths.” He said one prostitute took a photo of the HIV-related drugs in his medicine cabinet and threatened to sell it to the tabloids.
“Are you still paying these people?” Lauer asked him.
“Not after today I’m not,” Sheen said

Really just a sad end to an established career all thrown away in a haze of arrogance, depravity, debauchery, terrible decision making, and epic foolishness.
 
If he was being blackmailed then it SOUNDS like the women he was sleeping with knew his condition and I would assume took the proper precautions. If he didn't tell the women then he isn't just a wacko, he is evil.
 
Hmm... In order to keep my prostitution expenses under control I am finally going public with my HIV status. ;)

Winning? Perhaps not.

I am not holding my breath, nor should anyone else... but perhaps someone out there will learn something from this.

Celebrities love to use their notoriety and status for some issue or cause, and in this case they love to use the media to come out on something. In that same thinking, someone out there might question the next decision they are going to make based on the actions of these idiots. Like I said it is very doubtful, but one can hope.

So people who have everything still manage to self destruct through their own spoiled self indulgence.

Much like what happened with Whitney Houston and the like I'm finding it pretty hard to have much sympathy here :(

I am not asking for sympathy, I am asking for a learning experience that so few seem to ever see. If no one ever learns from mistakes made, even by someone else, what is the point?

There is no point as such. These overindulged people will always do what they will do to themselves so why should we care ?
