Hacker group Anonymous declares 'war' on ISIS following Paris attacks

Again: what a joke. Hey. Good luck hacking a group who probably knows better than to leave a digital footprint. Why don't you try picking up a weapon? Something tells me Isis won't care about the actions of anonymous.
 
Is ISIS still about? Figured they would have disbanded already after the big bad Anonymous hacked their twitter accounts.

obviously there is someone with some pull at twitter Inc. who has some pull who can affect accounts at pretty much will. the other less likely scenarion is anonymous found an exploit that gives them access to thousands of twitter accounts which no one has cared to address, or care about at all.


between this and the kkk "hacks", if it were for real people would start to question twitter's security, funny how that doesn't happen.

So long as they go after unpopular groups, no one will ask those questions.
 
'Operation Isis' Anonymous activists begin leaking suspected extremist Twitter account details

Organising under #opISIS and #opParis, the group is attempting to take down the websites and social media accounts of people associated with the group — as well as apparently release personal details of those involved in recruitment

The activist collective is assembling lists of the Twitter accounts and websites of extremists, in an attempt to have them taken down. At least one post seen by The Independent contains details including the physical address of a person it claims is an Isis recruiter in Europe.

Activists claim to have successfully had accounts and sites taken down already. Accounts associated with the group claimed that it was responsible for the removal of more than 5,500 accounts.​
 
I like how the people mocking this tactic have no ****ing clue how this ideological war is being fought.

We LOSE battles like the Iraq war when we invade their country with military force and kill tens of thousands of innocent citizens.

Culling the propaganda is so much more effective than feeding the cause with the barrel of a gun.

President Bush 2 spent $>2 trillion and >4,500 American lives and only made things worse. A sledgehammer is NOT an effective fly swatter.

Please explain how a few dozen nerds wasting some time online to cull terrorist propaganda is less effective.

All they have to do is not make things worse.

That's not really the point now, is it? Bush and Obama made it worse, true. That doesn't mean that hacking twitter accounts will bring down ISIS.

Sure, a null value is better than a negative, but it's still null.

Maybe, but it's a better general approach than President Bush 2's military campaign even if this specific execution doesn't accomplish much.

This is an ideological war. There's not a fixed number of terrorists only counts down as we kill them. They have been successfully recruiting, and we have given fuel to their cause.
