They are falling like flies...

Missouri football coach Gary Pinkel abruptly announced Friday he would resign at the end of the season for health reasons, days after he kept the team united when players went on strike because of racial tensions on campus.

Pinkel, 63, said he was diagnosed with lymphoma in May. He dismissed the idea that the week's events led to his decision.

Coincidence?

Yes. Google is your friend (unless you are faux news fan). He was diagnosed with lymphoma this year.( potentially lethal). He wants to spend more time with family because he may not live much longer.

You faux news fans are disgusting.

Comprehension is not your friend, huh? Just read the part you quoted and it becomes clear that there's nothing here but a man wanting to retire and enjoy the rest of his life which now seems might be shorter than he originally hoped.

Why would one need google to find that out when it's part of the quoted article in the OP.

To verify accuracy, and to bring additional facts & insight above & beyond the sole OP source.

As can be seen by the headline vs the content, due diligence needs to be used in this case with Fox (or any source, really).

Re: Missouri football coach Gary Pinkel announces resignation days after player strik

Typical misleading FOX headline (attempting to link the coach's leaving to the political unrest), and it looks like it worked, at least in the case of OP! :doh

What was untrue about the OP title?

Where did you read that? Oh, that's right, you didn't. It isn't in the article I posted.

So he didn't announce his retirement days after the political unrest at Mizzou?

If that's misleading to you then you should receive all your news auditorily so you can maybe understand it.

Interesting that you think my reading comprehension is at issue when you apparently don't know what the word "coincidence" means.

a striking occurrence of two or more events at one time apparently by mere chance

Are you by chance blonde? Grayish roots?

It attempts to link his retirement to the protests.

I wasn't commenting on the word coincidence, I was commenting on the ignorance of the question mark you chose to put after it. It should have been a period.

Again you seem to prove your lack of comprehension, over and over.

Re: Missouri football coach Gary Pinkel announces resignation days after player strik

It attempts to link his retirement to the protests.

I think you read that into it.

It says the coach announced after the player strike which was true.

You think incorrectly. Probably due to too much Faux News.

Did you read your own article?

"Missouri football coach Gary Pinkel abruptly announced Friday he would resign at the end of the season for health reasons, days after he kept the team united when players went on strike because of racial tensions on campus.

Pinkel, 63, said he was diagnosed with lymphoma in May."

Sure I do.

Try reading the title and looking at the reality of what happened.

The title is true, not that you care about the truth.

My post above should inform you. Then again as a Faux News fan probably not...

"Truth" & "Misleading" are two separate issues existing within this article, just as it's possible to say nothing untrue, but to have lied by omission. You're attempting to argue detail rather than totality.

At the time of the announcement (concurrent with this article) a Google search on the term "Gary Pinkel Resigns" produced all (first page) headlines referencing the resignation to his cancer, except for the Fox article - they referenced it to the unrest, which is what they are doing - they are heavily rallying against campus the unrest.

Now that several days have past, more introspective & reflective articles have arisen, but if you examine the announcement articles released at the time of the Fox Article, you'll see the obvious discrepancy.

If there's any doubt of the article's title being misleading, we can see the OP also got caught-up in it by his opening line: "They are falling like flies ...".
