As Missouri Activists Block Journalists, a Divide Over ‘Respect’ and Rights

MU Student who went on hunger strike to protest the "white privileged" that he has supposedly suffered from every day of his life is the son of a multi-millionaire.

I'm not sure what else he thinks he is supposed to get from America, but I am pretty sure that what he is interpreting as racism is just the natural reaction to a whining, poor-me millionaire's son.

LOL. You have no idea what I 'know' about Vietnam, and the 70's. It is disgusting how casual conservatives are about lives. Compassionate conservatism is dead and gone. 50,000 dead, and instead of disparaging the people who put those 50,000 there, in the name of politics you belittle and criticize the people who helped get us out. and yes I knew a few of those 50,000.
That verifies my assumption.

She was forced to resign her "courtesy" role as an Assistant Professor at Mizzou. First job loss in this story that was actually deserved.

My guess is that journalist won't get a passing but he got his first big story.

I agree with you on the demonstrations about Vietnam. I also take notice of your blame that you seem to infer on the Republicans for Vietnam. Kennedy put "advisers" in Vietnam in 1959. Johnson escalated the war in 1961. Nixon withdrew our troops. Vietnam wasn't a "conservative" thing.

I'm not blaming the Republicans for Vietnam. Not at all. I'm blaming the Republicans HERE who are letting their politics and their hatred of liberals cloud their view of exactly what the Vietnam protesters did. Some here are basically saying because 'hippies' were protesting to hell with the 50,000 who died for nothing. Everyone should have just stayed quiet, and let another 50,000 die.

But your time-line is off. Ike was prez in 1959. JFK in 1961. And the major, huge escalation happened under LBJ in the 1964-65 timeframe.

There is no adult leadership in the word "college".

Well, there is supposed to be, hence the never-ending discussions about in loco parentis, the extent to which a university assumes the protective role of parent.

I only saw 2 labeled conservatives in this thread, that fit your crticism. Dont paint with such a broad brush.

Yep, just the 'labeled'. ;)

And also this isn't the only thread about this protest.

Right, so dont assume the people in this thread are Republicans.

Lots and lots of people here don't want to identify themselves as Republicans. But really are. Real easy to pick out the so called "Libertarians'. Can you imagine a true Libertarian having a problem with people peacefully protesting? I can't.

Did I say they didn't have the right to free speech or the right to protest? Nope.

These assholes are still using their right to free speech and right to assemble in order to advocate for something that is pure fail, and that is what they are being criticized for.

What do you have against my free speech being used to criticize their cause?

#Concernedstudents1950 are a bunch of racists who wanted a dude fired for being a white dude and not telling them he hated himself for it.

Did I point you out? I wasn't even replying to you. Me thinks doth protest too much.

I don't need to be singled out to know you were casting aspersions on a group that includes me.

Of course not.
