For a cool 9 billion.

Lockheed Martin buys Sikorsky for $9 billion

I bet there are a LOT of nervous people in there right about now. They're going to be keeping the CT headquarters, in Stratford, but...are they gonna union bust? Are they gonna cut yet more jobs? Sikorsky has long been a family owned, family run business. I think things are about to change, and I feel kinda bad for all the people who's livelyhood relies on that change NOT happening.

Sikorsky's business model is a lot different than Lockheed's. I can see a lot of unhappy Sikorsky employees right about now. I can also see the quality of the product from Sikorsky going downhill.

I have a lot on the line with this. The Stratford location employs over 10,000 people, most all of which are union, making over 65K per year. In short, it's a very significant part of my economy.

I know about 7 years ago Lockheed did contracts by the job. Have you heard anything in the pipe about this happening? I have sent some messages out to some friends that work for DLA to see if they have heard anything but that was just this morning so I probably don't have any messages yet. They probably won't hear anything until Monday. Most of them work at Waterton Canyon.

Good luck. I hope they just leave the infrastructure alone and don't reorganize.

Sikorsky has been owned by UT corp for a long time no by a family

Well, I talked to a guy that works there last night and he said pretty much nothing is changing, except they are now going to have the massive Lockhead lobbying system working FOR them, instead of against them, now. He seemed very optimistic.

It's been a subsidiary of UT since the late 20s, however, Sikorsky itself has been firmly family owned and operated. No longer, the management team will now all be Lockheed guys.

How can it be a sub of UT and be family owned?

Being a sub of UT means it is owned (was) by UT

Good deal, that must help you breath better.

Another buy out reducing competition. Seems to be the trend these days.

It is tough to be a manufacturer in CT. It is getting expensive.
