"I think we need to be very clear about what we can and cannot achieve and not set expectations that we know we can't reach given the constraints of the Constitution," Ryan told CNN's Dana Bash on "State of the Union."

And, on his first day on the job, Paul Ryan has hurt the fee fees of the freedom caucus. But who gives a damn, when Ryan's priority is to get the House to do their jobs. I support him, but he is going to have worse problems than John Boehner did. He'll survive it, and America's business will finally be getting done.

Anyone else find it amusing to hear a Republican mention the "constraints of the Constitution?"

I don't see why the government should funnel money through intransparent channels. There is just no need and so no justification.

I think it's hilarious. Neither party cares about "the constitution" or small government. It's all a matter of priorities. I prefer to stand with the right leaning party that is labeled as "socialist" by those on the far right. (the democrats are the party I refer to that is attacked as being socialist)

Getting the house to do their jobs is a much taller order than defunding PP. The former would actually help the country, while the latter would simply make it more difficult for some people.

Maybe instead of going after an entity that spends $540 million, all at home and mostly on needed health services, why not go after the real money wasters?

It seems to me that there are plenty of them.

Because those are the "Secret Santas". Those little perks just don't grow off of trees you know.

In magic this is known as Misdirection. Focus on Planned Parenthood litthe hands while some bigger hands have their hands so deep down in your pockets they can check out your prostate.

Surprise!

But who gives a damn, when Ryan's priority is to get the House to do their jobs.
And how, exactly, is he supposed to do that?

Ironically, one of Boehner's big achievements -- killing earmarks -- makes the Speaker's job much, much harder, as the Speaker has a lot fewer carrots to give out. It seems like the Freedom Caucus are not going to respond well to sticks, and are not interested in realities like the limits on an effective opposition party.

Hahaha

I don't see Congress getting more done because Ryan is Speaker. The Freedom Caucus (and whatever succeeds them) aren't interested in getting anything done. They want to grind the federal government to a halt. So unless Ryan is willing to reach across the aisle, it's gonna be another slow year for legislation.
