Relying on the way all the witnesses reacted... and relying on the words of an eye witness not directly involved - such as the two lesbians or the cop - is far more likely to be trusted. The cop and the two lesbians are far more likely to be lying for their own self interest (the cop to keep his job the lesbians to get out of the charges and to look for a pay day). Looking at hte original story, which just seemed nonsensical.. and the new updated story which makes far more sense. Give it time, you'll see.
