DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — In an unusual legal maneuver, the district attorney in this suburb of Atlanta has won indictments against 15 supporters of the Confederate battle flag, accusing them of violating the state’s anti-street gang ordinance during a confrontation with black partygoers in July, the district attorney said on Monday.

Prosecutors say that members of the group, which calls itself “Respect the Flag,” threatened a group of African-Americans participating in an outdoor party on July 25. A cellphone video of part of the episode shows several white men driving away from the party in a convoy of pickup trucks with the Confederate battle flag and other banners, including American flags, fluttering from the truck beds.

Why are they classified as that? They could just be people that enjoy the flag that represents where they grew up.

Assuming that the perps actually made threats and showed weapons as claimed, the charges are appropriate.

Because their trying to stir trouble by driving their trashy treasonous flag which represents the cause which fought for slavery past a party comprised mostly of black people. They were being dicks, and the fact that they are part of an organization called 'Respect the Flag' makes them losers.

yep, flying the flag, even in a black area is constitutionally protected. Just like Nazi assholes parading through an area full of people who survived the Nazi genocide. However, if the Nazis had screamed "We're gonna kill all you F'ng Kikes" or something like that, they would have been charged with menacing (assuming they were still alive after doing something like that)

Unless they have it on video and it doesn't appear that anyone does, it didn't happen.

Think that's bad I had the rebel flag tattooed on my ass; I can't even go to a nude beach anymore... totally bummed.

I suspect that waving a rifle or shotgun may have something to do with the charges

If that's true then they're lucky they aren't being charged with making terroristic threats which can entail serious federal prison time.

Them especially. Anyone who flies the Confederate flag is kind of a tool though. I imagine that one day it simply won't be acceptable.

If this is the incident I remember there is some video of it

I would not have called it terrorism, but in the video I saw, it was threatening to the residents

Reasonability. The threat a person makes must be reasonable in order to qualify as a terrorist threat. For example, you cannot commit a terrorist threat if you threaten to destroy the state capital by ordering your alien army to do it for you. A reasonable person must be able to conclude that the threat is credible. If you never intended to commit the crime, that's no defense--it's sufficient for a conviction that someone else might reasonably believe that you did.

I am 6-1 225 or so. If a 70 year old woman in a wheel chair says "I'm gonna beat you head in" that is not a threat I could reasonably claim is one that causes fear or is a terrorist threat. Now if I say the same thing to a 70 year old woman in a wheel chair" or just about any child under the age of 15, that could be

If I point my finger at you and say "I am going to blow your head off with my finger gun" no

If I am walking past your door with a SAW with a full belt of ammo and I say "I am going to ventilate you and your house with my machine gun-yeah that is an illegal threat deserving some serious LE action

What does acceptable mean? The swastica is about as bad a symbol as we have ever seen yet it is still ALL OVER Asia...
