McCarthy withdraws from speaker race, vote postponed

Yeah JF that is true, that's why the Democratic Governor. O'Malley called these Democrats the Undemocratic Party. :2razz:

Well looking at past failures and Govt shutdowns it seems like a repeat of failures.

Didn't look that way with the Demos being reduced to only 7 states with full control. Only 14 with partial control and no majority.

Now is the time.....to start with their destruction.

See that's the difference in the Parties. The Repubs think of the Country first. The Demos think of destroying The Repub Party first.

Time to change that up and let the Demos see their Permanent Ending!

Hopefully it will be someone with a grasp of the English language who can articulate the Republican platform.

The Republican platform is easy to decipher.

1) Tax cuts for the rich.

2) Oppose anything Democrats propose.

It is both fascinating, and as a former Republican(me) troubling to see how ball-less and gutless the moderate Republican has become.
For decades the jokes were always about how liberals were wussies and weak. No more, the moderate Republican has that label now.

Republicans make the Keystone Cops look like Mensa members.

But it's fun to watch them all run backwards with their shoes tied together.

You forgot:

3) Weaken environmental laws.

4) Bitch about loss of freedom anytime conservative evangelicals cannot use the force of law to impose their will upon others.

Nope- they are politicians first- and for many getting reelected is number 1.
Every plan (and I use that loosely) the Repubs had under Cruz and others on the far right, ended up in failure.
Old saying comes to mind- Pick you battles.

I'm not closely familiar with a lot of these guys, but have got to say I actually give Boehner credit for all those years of cat herding!

I really think he had the toughest job in D.C., to be honest.

No wonder he needed a drink now & then!

Boehner's problem is that he told everyone what was going to happen and punished anyone that voted against his agenda.

The Freedom Caucus tied up a block of votes making 218 votes impossible to get.

The Freedom Caucus is not always the TP side?
So who is the next sacrificial goat?

Good question. Maybe Webster? That seems to be the name that keeps popping up of someone that actually wants the position. I don't know how much Boehner hates him and if he would stand in the way to stop them from picking Webster however.

Heya NB.

Now after two phone calls. Ryan has cancelled all fundraisers and now when asked. Is saying no comment.

Report: Boehner phones Paul Ryan, asks him to run for Speaker — or else he might stay on as Speaker himself.....

And what if Ryan still says no? Terrible things, my friends. Bret Baier:

Speaker John Boehner has agreed to stay on as Speaker–not just until the Caucus nominates someone –but, until that person can confirm 218 votes on the House floor (needed to take the Speaker’s gavel). Short of that – Boehner will stay on for the rest of this Congress and steer legislation that is pending. What does this mean? Moderates and leadership types are cheering and saying Boehner is the only one they will support. Conservatives will go ballistic since they know this signals that Boehner will make ALL kinds of deals to get big ticket legislation through the House even if it means using Democrats votes to do it.

Line up behind Ryan, Boehner is saying, or else I’ll stick around and make your lives even more miserable....snip~

Greetings, MMC. :2wave:

I thought Ryan has already said he's not interested. or is he just testing the waters? And whatever happened to Hensarling - we heard a lot about him recently.

Not surprising....after he slipped and admitted that the whole Benghazi committee was created for political purposes. That blew his shot.

Haha, show me where he actually said that. He'll implied it at the most, but he didn't say it from what I read. Guys like you make leaps all the time.

Great news! Now the right wingers will try to dig up a true nutcase!

Like maybe someone that'll kick Obama in the nuts till he's gone. We all know that Obama will veto everything anyway, why not murder his legacy while we're going there?

Yes, I heard a similar version of that throughout the fall of 2012.

The GOP fantasy world is apparently compelling. That's part and parcel of the clown show you love so much.

No you didn't hear that in 2012, you're hearing it now. Hillary isn't Obama or her husband. Nobody ****ing like her.
