Yes, they were surprised, and this is why:
KGTV got a copy of the school's parent and student handbook which was revised over the summer. Under the school's statement of nondiscrimination, the handbook declared the school's right to "refuse admission of an applicant or to discontinue enrollment of a student."
"This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, living in, condoning or supporting sexual immorality; practicing homosexual lifestyle or alternative gender identity; promoting such practices; or otherwise having the inability to support the moral principles of the school," the handbook continued, according to the news station.
That's why their daughter had been attending that school for the past year, including summer school... which the child was also enrolled in while the administrators were busy re-writing their student handbook in order to kick her out. Her parents had every right to be surprised, stunned and angry.
So they changed the hand book in order to exclude and kick out ONE STUDENT. I hope this school gets some violent protests, and burning crosses outside their steps. I dont think anyone can defend this as a religous act, they are just using that as a reason to be complete dicks.
