NASA finds water on Mars

Mars is and will always be inhospitable to human life no matter how many Nukes and or Giant ice asteroids we throw at it.

It has 1/3 the gravity, no plate tectonics and NO magnetic field which protects life on Earth from solar radiation.

If the Government claims theyre going to start spending billions on terraforming research then you know you're being scammed

That moneys going in someone's pocket.

We are not going to colonize Mars as it is rather how we will transform it to accommodate human life. All need to think in terms of hundreds of years from now. You cannot deny this as the Earth is doomed and man is simply building a shelter for the future. From Mars we will go further as technology permits.

When life eventually is confirmed on Mars or anyplace else in the universe, young earth bible creationists are going to go bananas.

No they'll just deny it.

That said I fail to see why the discovery would negate anything in the bible. Young earth where the book of genisis is translated literally is questionable already.

What life could survive a perpetual onslaught of fatal Solar radiation ?

Mars has no magnetic field to protect it like Earth does.

And why would life anywhere shake the faith of Christians ? I'm a Christian and also believe there is other life in the Universe.

If there are microbes up there that can withstand radiation it would be imperative wevdon't bring them back to earth!

Reality can be denied for so long, they would then flip it and claim that the "bible predicts that life exists elsewhere all along" Like how they claim that the bible talks about dinosaurs.

Lol !

I'll say !

One simply cannot say life elsewhere must have the same environment as Earths. Consider all of the millions of creatures large and tiny living on this planet and all their quirky lives and habits. "Life" is a miracle and I don't mean that in a religious sense and I think as science advances some people cannot find it within themselves to accept certain discoveries and theories. Life forms cannot be shocking when you consider all the life forms that have come and gone here on Earth. What if you woke up tomorrow and saw a dinosaur in your front yard?

Mars looks like death valley on acid with zero indication of past organisms because it has never been able to sustain life and sending a few nukes its way ( Lol @ Elon Musk ) won't turn it into a replica of Earth.

We've had rovers up there for how long and every view is the same. No fossils plants, animals or otherwise. Just peoples parodelia getting the best of them.

Not in a hundred years or in a thousand years. It has 1/3 the gravity of earth, a fraction of the atmosphere and no magnetic field.

The black market industry will easily supply this commodity, and I have many contacts in the South East Asia banana/plantain markets...

Mars wasn't always the way it is now. There is a copious amount of evidence that it was once quite hospitable for life. As to whether anything there was ever or is still living; life can survive and thrive in a vast spectrum of conditions so either scenario is possible.

It wasn't liquid before we got there and started Martian Warming, now the ice caps are shrinking and the polar tribbles are going to drown. Stupid NASA.....

Are you saying solar power and battery powered vehicles aren't going to do us any good?

Lol !

And what is that evidence exactly ? C'mon, be specific.

My response from the perspective of a biologist was actually a serious one. Any bacteria or virus on Mars that can withstand the harsh environment there could be a real bugger to irradiate here. Hopefully that would not be the case and they are not pathogenic.

There's a chance we could innoculate Mars with bacteria from here and may have already done so.

I'm pretty confident if there indeed was life, a more favorable environment, and copius amounts of water at one time, than at last some microscopic life survives in a microclimate whether it be cracks in the ground, caves, ice etc. I just can't believe the entire planet could have been sterilized.

We have frogs in Alaska that can freeze during the winter and thaw out and come back to life in the spring. Additionally anybody ever heard of snow fleas? Snow fleas can move about in a subzero environment due to a naturally produced antifreeze.

Lol..

Mars has no electromagnetic field, no plate techtonics and 1/3 of the gravity Earth has.

It never looked like earth and never will.

There is evidence of primates that lived on Mars. Choke on that.

No one in this thread said it would did they?

Are you always this dense?
