Iran thumbs nose at US even as Obama rallies support for nuke deal

Wont someone finally think about Israel?!?!

Not accurate. The sanctions were working. We could have walked away from the table when the Iranians threw the fit they did, instead of giving in. The sanctions were working. Russia and China wanted to end the sanctions for their own financial benefit. No one else cared. We gave in to Iran, Russia and China. Three countries that ARE NOT our friends or allies.

What you say is what the White House is saying in an attempt to use the "Our way or death" defense. If war was all that was left, we would have bombed them months, if not years, ago. Plus, war is not the only result of using military power. There were lots of other options between a staggered capitulation to Iran (which is what this deal is) and all out War.

I do have an additional point though regarding war. If Iran will get "the bomb" within the next ten years as this deal ensures, then all we have done for sure is delay any potential war to a point down the road when Iran will have the economic strength and military strength to kill us. That is what Obama and Kerry have done to us. To my children and by then, maybe even my grandchildren.

Your fears are on the verge of hyperbole. Iran will not attain a nuclear bomb with this deal as there are inspections at anytime given 24 days. Nuclear material takes years to dissolve, so if we find them continuing with the program, the deal is off anyway. You still haven't addressed that China, Russia and the EU will drop their sanctions if this deal is ended which will make our sanctions useless.

We have to give this a chance.

My concern (not fear) is based on historical fact, current statements from the Iranians themselves and personal knowledge from being on the other side of their AK-47's in battle. I understand the mentality of the Iranian military.

The deal allows them to continue research and their military bases are off limits to inspections. The deal also guarantees they will have a nuclear weapon by the end of the deal, if not before - even Kerry said such in his Senate testimony.

Fissile material is not all that is needed for a nuclear weapon. The deal is supposed to limit more than just fissile material.

I did. I said that Russia and China were pushing the deal so they could sell things to Iran. The majority of EU countries could reinstate their sanctions rather quickly.

As for how this came about, it is because Obama went to the UN Security Council to get sanctions lifted BEFORE he got approval from the US Senate to do so.

Obama has never been a believer in the Constitution, at least once he lost his super majority in 2010. In this instance, it is Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution that he overlooked.

We have to give this a chance.
At this point, you're correct. We have no choice. Given that Obama went to the UN first in contradiction to the US Constitution, agreed with Russia and China over the majority of the US Senate, and has already released Iran's money that had been frozen for decades... yeah, we have no choice at this point.

Kerry did not say they will have a nuclear weapon at the end of this deal. I am not a fan of Kerry, but he didn't say that. The Iranians are not a threat to the USA directly. They may be a threat to other middle eastern countries, but it's their region, not ours to figure out. The only aspect we have to watch for is exporting terrorism to the US mainland. The Europeans will not reinstate their sanctions, Merkel has already said such. Other than this deal, the only alternative is war.

Do you deny the fact that military contractors will get rich by going into another war? That's what they want, so that's what they're pushing.

Holy crap on a cracker. Military contractors? Seriously?

Look. You obviously are going to believe what you want and totally disregard anything that doesn't support it... so...

Your profile says you joined July of 2011, how strange if you've only in fact been registered for a few months.
I never heard of this forum before my kids got me this new fangled phone.

So military contractors and the stock market for companies that profit from wars won't get rich? Halliburton? Boeing? That is a serious motive...

Also, if the president is so "saintly" that he will prevent war at any cost, why don't we make him go back to the negotiation table to get a better deal for us?

Yea. Its that easy.
1.)How would you go about getting a better deal?
2.)What demands will be made and are they realistic?
3.)Under bargaining both sides what to take something away from the deal, how do you ensure that both sides will remain satisfied based off new demands being made?
4.)Do you even have any "alternatives" in mind?

It's not striking to you that the very people that support the deal have an interest to wage war, while the media sells the deal as the "only" means to prevent?

So if they had nixed the deal you'd be telling us to "listen to the experts". The right really has their panties in a wad over this "uppity" imposter of a president... don't you?

That may be, but it doesn't change the fact that your profile says you've been registered since July 2011.

July of this year sounds about right. and I wouldn't have chosen Jabbar as my username, when Iwent to register it told me I already was and what my username is. weird.

Then you or someone with your exact email has signed up in July 2011. Perhaps you should discuss this with the admins because using someone else's handle is against the rules, though it does appear as though it was a dormant handle/profile.

Yep, Cheney's Haliburton made 40 billion off that war he scared Americans into supporting using the same fear mongering as the right is with Iran this time. "Do we have to wait for the smoking gun to come in the form of a mushroom cloud"????? ;)

And this:

WMDs All Over Again: Lindsey Graham Claims A U.S. City Will Burn Without More Iraq War

He also thinks our Syria policy could get us nuked, lol.

No Middle East country is a threat to the US, well maybe Saudi Arabia.
