France train attack: Americans overpower gunman on Paris express

You 'have seen' these cartoons since the Charlie Hebdo massacre but they aren't available online. OK. I'll just take your word for it.

Yes. Like most publications they don't put their entire content on line or nobody would buy them. D'oh!
If you're that interested take out a subscription or buy a back copy. Anybody in France or the UK will tell you that these cartoons haven't stopped. Private Eye is famous for its burqa cartoons.

You continue to use the US as an example while not exploring poverty in Europe or other areas of the world. In fact, if you knew anything about the States or poverty you would know that the greatest crimes rates don't necessarily occur where there is greatest poverty.

If you actually took a course in Sociology or poverty you should demand your money back. Not only was it a waste of time, you were misinformed.

I never said this was a purely US phnenomenon. Please find me the post where you think I did.

I don't need to re-take my Sociology degree thank you. My opinions come from academic study, yours because you once saw somebody living in a mud hut on holiday and you mistook that for empirical research

But it was the NSA and its awesome GOP-backed surveillance power that saved the day, right?

Yeah, right and the torture interrogations didn't hurt, either. lol

It didn't take long either for the French media to claim that it was naturally a Frenchman who led the way.

Actually, it was a Frenchman who first attacked the terrorist and he got shot in the chest for his efforts. If wasn't for him the terrorist would've entered the train car unhindered and the Americans wouldn't have had the heads up warning or the time to take the terrorist down. Recognizing there were other nationalities involved doesn't make the Americans any less heroic. It's really sad that their heroism is getting politicized.

You made the claim, never offered evidence, so I'll just accept that for what it is.

I really doubt you have much education whatsoever. Where did i say you said it was "a purely US phnenomenon"? You continue to make unsubstantiated and rather adolescent claims yet can never back them up.

It must have a correspondence course from some 'university' in Nigeria. I also never said it was a holiday. You just go on and on.

Try the current issue of "Private Eye" (No. 1399 August 21st - September 3rd) for a cartoon skitting an ISIS training camp, page 6 in the "Sreet of Shame" section.

I studied in London. You studied in a mud hut.

There are some good universities in Nigeria, notably Lagos, but I have never studied at one. I had colleagues in London who had, they were generally well educated. The racism inherent in your comment is barely veiled, but we expect nothing better from Grant.

I just want to say that everyone who participated in stopping that gunman before he took more lives is a hero. I'm also extremely proud of the three American men who helped take him down. They are local boys, who all grew up here in California just a few miles down the hill from me. So this is for you, guys! *hugs* and :kissy:

IF what you say is true it doesn't say much about Sociology degrees. Are you one of those Nigerians whose rich presidential husband just died leaving behind 30 million unreachable dollars? You might be in my junk mail folder! Nigerian Email Scams - Nigeria Letter 419 Advance Fee Fraud.

I have received email scams emanating from the US. That doesn't mean I denigrate US universities.

I have equally received email scams from Nigeria. Why should I associate that with the quality of Nigerian universities?

I am not Nigerian as you well know. You are just being a jerk - true to form.

I get email scams from all over the globe -- a few from Nigeria asking for money -- also a lot from South America -- some from Australia -- a few from France.

Strange and sad how a thread starting off to praise heroics can sink this low.

But it's the sad truth that this terrorist knew that these people would be unarmed and easy takings for a coward like him. I'm sure glad that not all the passengers were sheeple. Kudos to the 4th American that helped out as well and as to the British guy who aided the Americans.

I was responding to the abuse of using a thread suitable for praising those intervening, by taking the opportunity to go into ranting nationalism, at the same time denigrating any nation other than one's own.

Maybe the comment of France surrendering to Morocco was not the most stupid of the day, but it was doing pretty good.

On which note the question offers itself of why you even bother with him.

I just simply flushed him

In any case, mail filter programs are a blessing where email scams are concerned. ;)

Oh he comes close to going on ignore, then I decide he amuses me too much.

Yes I'm more savvy now. The big money stories with the request for bank account details get me the most. I once replied,

"No, I think the money transfer would be easier if you gave me your bank details."

Off topic: is your screen name in any way because of the Chagos Islands?
