If Donald Trump's comments about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly are hurting his standing in the Republican primary, it's not showing in the numbers. According to the latest NBC News Online Poll conducted by SurveyMonkey, Trump is at the top of the list of GOP candidates that Republican primary voters would cast a ballot for if the primary were being held right now.

The overnight poll was conducted for 24 hours from Friday evening into Saturday. During that period, Donald Trump stayed in the headlines due to his negative comments about Kelly and was dis-invited from a major conservative gathering in Atlanta. None of that stopped Trump from coming in at the top of the poll with 23 percent. Sen. Ted Cruz was next on the list with 13 percent.

It appears like Trump pulled it off, maintaining his lead.

He also appears to have some support in the black community. He's also pretty high with hispanics as well.

I actually agree with the rankings, excepting trump, but it looks like he did well.

Other than demonstrating the current level of self-destructive insanity within the GOP talib section, it's funny.

The poll, as per its methodology, is aptly named.

Anyone who believes the results are accurate or reflective of Republican primary voting intentions deserves to be called a monkey.

Interesting results. Perhaps it's an indication the Media's ability to control the messaging, and it's ability to ignore the issues to try and take down candidates is running out of steam and credibility.

Must have polled actual monkeys, and they thought he's an orangutan.

Fantastic news! Hope trump wins going away.

Ahahahahahahahaa.....that's awesome.

Other than demonstrating the current level of self-destructive insanity within the GOP talib section, it's funny.

Not to mention extremely great news. Imagine it - in the span of just 48 hours, Trump can (1) alienate pretty much the entire GOP establishment, (2)throw out the prospect of a third party run, (3) say almost anything no matter how crude, piggish or offensive, (4)still be the front runner without any damage. and (5) cause lots of those on the right to turn against FOX News.

If a progressive had written this as a script - it would have been dismissed as liberal fantasy that never would have a chance of happening.

Still early but its still a post-debate poll, and so it deserves some scrutiny, imo.

This may be the greatest troll job the democRATS have ever done on the GOP. Tip of the hat to Bill Clinton.

Interesting SoCON spin...

IF the bad ol' Media is attempting to control the message ummmm why did they announce the poll results showing they are in fact NOT controlling it???? :doh

Looks more like the highly disaffected SoCONs, who trace their lineage back to St. Reagan's Dixiecrats, will cling to whomever is seen as not old school, mainline 'establishment' Grand Ol' Party. A perverse remake of the hippy movement of my salad days....

So-called 'populous' candidates are far more likely to pander to those who feel shut out of mainstream politics, be it the Grange/Populist Movement or the disaffected Southern CONs fleeing to the Party of Lincoln as the Democrats turned more to social equality issues.

I'm glad 'the donald' is staying the course. The Disaffected in the CON movements need a voice, and the Dems need it to be as asinine as possible. I'm sure once the donald crashes and burns the TP, SoCONs and other fringies will return to the fold, a bit more bitter and jaded, but where else would they go? Wander 40 years in the Wilderness? Hardly, this is the microwave, instant gratification age. Well, that and many don't have 40 years left to wander anywhere.... :peace

Sort of feel bad for the rational Republicans out there. 2016 elections are lost before campaigns even begin.

It's fascinating watching 2 camps (and who's in them) emerge from this episode.

Well that is disappointing, 23% think Trump is still the one for the job. What a bunch of fools.

Yup.
I'm not too proud to say that when Trump announced I said if the GOP was/were(?) smart they'd appropriate his theme.
Some did (and if you look at this poll result you'll see who) but now it'd be too obvious of, say, Bush tried it.

So what do you think are the prospects for these two things happening before next summer
1- the GOP establishment gets the candidate they want from this list - Bush, Walker, Rubio, Kasich, Fiorina, or some other acceptable conservative
2 - Trump loses out and decides NOT to go third party

My guess is that there is a good probability for #1. Trump will stay in if a) He thinks there will some quid pro quo from the Clintons or b) He thinks the publicity will make his companies some money.

Doubt he really wants the job. Doesn't pay enough and he doesn't get to hire/fire congress.

Maybe so, but I give no credit to online polling, particularly one that doesn't have Bush, Walker or Kasich anywhere in sight and has Trump and Cruz on top. In the polls methodology, they admit they have no way of judging if Republicans responded, let along likely primary voting Republicans.

The internet trolls/Democrats had a field day with this one.

Thanks for all the Proggy blather, but your opening line is what I was suggesting. Perhaps the media will learn that the electorate is not so willing to allow them to determine who gets to appear on the ballot.

I just flushed the rest of your stuff having determined it was just bowl floaters that needed an extra push. :peace

Like him or not, Trump is resonating with the electorate, and the attack dogs attempting to explain it, or blame it, are only making themselves look as foolish as they deserve to look.

"Fed Up" should be the rally cry of the electorate, rather than the reverse involving carefully crafted "mission statements" flowing from the out of touch candidates from all political persuasions.

what is interesting to me is that Bush isnt in the top 5

Cruz, and Florino made good jumps

The Donald will continue to get support for speaking his mind

The question is....who else is willing to stop spouting political sayings, and truly say what is on their mind

If someone can do that....yet not be as rude and crass as the Donald....i think they run away from the field

The american public doesnt want another buttoned down career politician to tell them what they think they want to hear

The want plain talk....no bull****...anyone other than the Donald willing to be that person?
