Senate Dems partner with gun-control activists amid ‘summer of gun violence’

So your reasoning for why these proposals violate the US Constitution is..."The Supreme Court is wrong?"

Solid argument.

The supreme court is often wrong or they make rulings based on the political winds blowing at the time. Scalia has admitted that the new deal is unconstitutional but he also claims that its been around too long to overturn. But since UBGC have not come up yet, and given the court's recent positions, I doubt the UBGC would be seen as constitutional. Sadly for you, the court has NOT ruled on UBGC pertaining ONLY to INTRA-STATE sales.

if you read Heller, and Lopez and McDonald, its hard to find support for something as stupid as a UBGC given that private sellers are prohibited, by federal law, from engaging in INTERSTATE commerce with other private individuals when it comes to second hand sales of firearms.

And given your reading of the second amendment, that federal law that prevents private gun sellers from engaging in INTERSTATE commerce with other private individuals is unconstitutional as well, right?

absolutely but I doubt that will be struck down given the expansion of the commerce clause. so the supreme court would have a hard time justifying that ban on people without FFLs (which allow "interstate commerce in arms) and then claiming that pure intrastate sales impact interstate commerce. the supreme court needs to start pulling back from the idiocy of the Wickard case and its progeny

All other democracies beg to differ where most people don't want to shoot other people and try to call that freedom thankfully

Thank God we aren't one of them. We decided to not be like them so we left and created our own government. They can beg all they want. Begging is disgusting. I never beg. I am glad you are happy where you are, stay there and be happy and safe and controlled.

Which other democracy didn't create its own government then ?

Rather an odd statement given I've seen more destitute beggars on the streets of US cities than I ever have in Europe, even in the east

I am glad you are happy where you are, stay there and be happy and safe and controlled.

And I'm just as happy for you to remain armed paranoid and fearful of each other. Each to their own

we don't care. this is America-not another effete eurosocialist has been country like England. your characterization of what our freedom is is frankly lie filled and pathetic

I am not fearful or paranoid. I live in the mountains, have a pile of guns, tens of thousands of rounds of ammo, a dog (he doesn't have a gun), wife (she has a gun), good food, sweet air to breathe, life is good, good friends (they have guns too), good neighbors (they have guns), wouldn't trade it for anything. We have two full time deputies that patrol this area. One if them is a Brit. He has guns. One of his personal weapons is a .50 cal Barret. As a matter of fact he said that he recommends that everyone that lives up here has a gun. Our crime rate is practically non existent. We have had one shooting in the past five years. A guy attacked a security guard and the security guard shot him while they were wrestling. When we are walking the dog we hear our neighbors shooting all the time. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to know that they can protect themselves when it takes law enforcement 90 minutes to get up here.

It would be very stupid not to fear armed obsessives who try and hide their aggressive 'urges' behind what they allege to be their patriotism.

I am indeed thankful that I do not have such concerns here

Hopefully you can get rid of the urban sociopaths in office who try to impose NYC or San Franciscan based idiocy on colorado

those people are only a fraction of legal gun owners. we are glad you don't live here and we continue to wonder why so much whining about a country you don't matter to

You seem to use the word "fear" a lot. I don't have much use for that word. Fear is synonymous to paranoia isn't it?

It's working, slowly but surely. Our biggest problem is gun rights people arguing with each other.

And a very significant fraction given some of the views expressed here :(

wrong as usual. its what happens when paranoid or fearful foreigners are exposed to the opinions of free citizens who don't kneel to a queen or consider government some sort of God created entity. Free men willing to accept the responsibility of being armed and providing for their own defense is well known to accentuate feelings of timidity among the cowards who want to outsource their own personal safety to the nanny state

I've never knelt to anyone in my life. Unlike countless gun victims in the US

Heads up being armed doesn't make you a hero its simply a substitute phallus ,and the great bulk of developed societies have moved on from the rule of the jungle a while ago

It's fair to say that the effete Eurosocialist nations—and England in particular—stand as an example of that to which America was founded in opposition, and as an opposite to what America was intended to be. America certainly did not achieve its greatness by looking to these degraded, pathetic societies for guidance as to how we should run our own country.

The only reason for you to have such a fear of law-abiding citizens being allowed to freely possess arms, is that you have desires or intentions which, if acted on, would give those citizens just cause to use their arms against you.

Not only am a liberal, I'm also a woman and you are so off-base with your personification.

Just because you mostly find strong advocates for our 2A rights online doesnt mean that...as I've mentioned many times....just regular ol' Americans own and carry guns and they are spread all across America, not in the violence-focused socio-economically challenged areas.

I dont even care much about guns...any more than I care about my truck or car. I have them for specific purposes and maintain them in a manner so they perform efficiently. I know only as much as I need to know about the mechanisms of both, lol.

I do however, care about my rights.

Your generalizations and characterizations continue to be wilfully innacurate, but no one can force you to accept reality.

the substitute phallus nonsense was invented by castratis who constantly fixate on their lack of manhood. It has no basis in any legitimate psychology and is something that was used as a cover for those whose feelings of inadequacy are accentuated by their exposure to free citizens who aren't afraid to accept the responsibility and RISK of making their own personal safety an INDIVIDUAL DUTY. many gun banners want to ban guns so they won't be reminded of their own timidity and inability to accept adult responsibilities

It's rather plainly obvious that psychological projection has a great deal to do with this.

Call me picky but playing at being Dirty Harry/Rambo doesn't smack to me of somebody particularly accepting of adult responsibilities. I'm sure most get over such fixations when they reach double digits, after that its primarily a male 'inadequacy' problem being addressed frankly
