In other threads, soe posters have gone on and on about the right to expression for those who want to discriminate against gays. Then they go on to rant about how the left wants to eliminate that right for those they disagree with

    Ironic, huh?

And it's not as if they don't understand that flag burning is protected by the constitution; It's that they really don't care. The constitution is only important when it supports their opinion. Otherwise, it is to be ignored:

The Court has also made clear that the freedom of speech includes the freedom not to speak, and that "speech," for First Amendment purpose, includes a wide range of expressive and symbolic acts. Topless dancing and flag-burning are examples of constitutionally-protected speech. And views expressed in writing or symbols on a cake, or expressed symbolically in its form, would almost certainly qualify.

Yeah people who exercise their first amendment rights deserve to be assaulted if I disagree with them.

You big kidder. Yes, of course it's still wrong, as in "not constitutionally protected".

    Right, violence is patriotic.

And people wonder what's wrong with America.

It is never shameful for any American to exercise his constitutional rights. It is always shameful for any American to hate and condemn his own country. To hell with these cowards, and may all the others like them who are taking up space in this great country join then there.

For the past fifty years, the politicians have been too anxious to find the right to destroy America a positive thing, an admirable goal to be respected, regardless of how the majority feel about it. It's time the America haters found out how we feel about them. I salute the biker's actions in this event.
The bikers had every right to have their own counter protest. To stand there and use their own 1st Amendment rights to call the flag burners traitors or whatever they felt.

Instead they decided to be thugs and commit assault. Not exactly praise worthy.

Many consider flag burning a desecration, yet they then cry freedom of speech in other situations.
I think flag burners are idiots. That said, still their right.

We are so headed for fascism, it must be right around the corner.

Well hell being mythical aside. In the exercise of free speech, somebody's always going to offend you. If you want to prohibit that which offends you, and the next guy wants to prohibit speech that offends him, soon all speech is prohibited. See how that doesn't work. Btw, the symbolism of burning the American flag isn't a declaration of hatred of America. People always use "America" too broadly. For all we know, those folks love all manor of Americana, but simply oppose armed police officers due to the high numbers of unlawful killings by them. I don't like US flag burning, have never burned one, and I don't want to disarm our police, but I see no problem with these people or their demonstration.
