Look, I can understand a visceral rage at seeing the US flag being burned, especially by a group whose entire stupid protest was trying to disarm police officers... but look, boys and girls, assault and battery is not the ****ing answer!!

I can hardly believe some of the tripe I've seen in this thread by people who know damned well that there is no legal defense by an "assault due to extreme offensive behavior". What's the matter with you people??

I hope some of you were just being witty and sarcastic rather than honestly admitting that violence is never a legitimate response to being offended. Never!

Yea raping, murdering, and burning down entire towns.......how generous. Its fun how that little part is ignored by the history books today....much like the fact that there were black slave owners....

There where atrocities committed by both sides in the war. It was a war of the times, and war at that time was not nice.

And you should fire your history teacher, I learned that and more in high school history, including the rounding up of black Americans to send south to be sold into slavery, confederate cavalry massacre, lots and lots of pillaging in both the Gettysburg and Antietam campaigns, and so on. Learning the whole history is pretty important.

There were thos who felt Pamela Geller was inciting violence with the exercising of her free speech but many seem to have changed their view now that the American flag is involved. Are we seeing a double standard here?

My history teacher definitely sucked. She is a raging liberal, the America hating type that tends to go into education these days.

You are the least qualified person I have ever met on the Internet to be a cop. I bet you got your ass handed to you plenty of times growing up and now it is your chance to get even. If you patrol like you talk here it will only be a matter of time before we read about you facing some charge of police brutality or worse. I sure am glad you have no authority over me.

BTW, I keep my lean the way it is mainly because people like you don't like it.

Mine was an all out liberal too, hippy dude. One of the best teachers I ever had, really pushed home historical facts, put them in context, and explained why they where important. Oddly, his best friend and another of my best teachers was an all out conservative, and they taught alot alike. They challenged you to think for yourself, expected you to defend your opinions and question everything.
