Not at all. But talent, as fine as it is for career advancement is a double edged sword and in no way a guarantor of happy times. If the system is geared to periodic wars, the talented will more often than not profit by the chaos, but will not prevent it.

That would be deployed on a merchant ship, .
Killing one person is murder, killing 100,000 is foreign policy

Like I'm going to disagree with you that our wars over the past decades weren't about profit.

Economics is arguably the prime motivation for humans to organize themselves in groups and build civilizations. Why would I argue with such an elementary statement, other than maybe that it is deceptive in the way you make it.

Okay. If you meant it in a very wide sense, I misunderstood you. Sorry.

They serve as an outpost of western ideals in anotherwise western adverse part of the world. It is a very important and strategic outpost that will be used if there is ever a world conflict over the ME like there was during the cold war. They are our hedge against Russian influence in the ME as well as an expanding Islamic state.
    - There was never a good war, or a bad peace.
    - Idealistically, everything should work as you planed it to. Realistically, it depends on how idealistic you are as to the measure of success.
    - Better to be a pessimist before, and an optimist afterwords.
