Gun used by illigal immigrant in killing belonged to federal agent

Oy vey; take out the word gun and insert "running with scissors." That makes more sense.

Well, would you let your child run around the room with a loaded gun?

My theory is a bit more pragmatic - either he or an associate broke into the agent's car stealing the gun, and then the incident involving the actual shooting was a run-of-the mill crime of passion or opportunity.

But, who knows?

Yes, the story might be accurate and true in all details. I certainly don't know.

But given what we know about Fast & Furious and other cases of government mendacity and staged events it is hard to tell. Maybe I've been watching too many episodes of Olivia Pope and Scandal. :)

So do you think, coming from another country other than ours where guns are everywhere, he had to find instructions on how to operate it? It would be intuitive for an American since it rains guns here, but for a Mexican national? It had to be a very confusing time for this man having come from such a peaceful place.

It rains guns in mexico, due to the proliferation from America and the lack of ability, as well as the poor job they do of enforcing gun laws.

we are not part of the problem and trying to lay a guilt trip on us if we don't support incremental steps gun banners want is silly.

You don't have to be directly part of the problem. If you sell a gun to someone, who sells it to someone else, when then uses it in a crime and kills someone then you are part of the problem. You are part of the supply chain that allows people to purchase firearms.

How would that have helped this case considering where the gun came from?

If it were his own personal firearm, and we had a registration process which put penalites on people who are poor at accounting for their weapons, he may have been more inclined to do just that.

Mexico does a poor job of enforcing any laws.

Of course, the fact that the criminal gangs have even more firepower then the military down there says something about the problem.

Bullets from cartel violence in Juarez frequently hit parts of El Paso, including the UTEP campus.

Borderland Beat: Bullets from Ciudad Juarez Reaching El Paso

Maybe UTEP and El Paso should pass an "Anti-Bullet Law", surely that will make the bullets stop before they enter the US.

Why not? About as effective as all of those "Nuclear Ban" laws that cities and states and countries enacted in the 1980's.

Well, it was his own personal firearm. And I am sure that is why they were quickly able to identify where it came from.

The owner is a BLM law enforcement officer, and it was his own personal firearm. He reported it stollen last month from his POV.

San Francisco shooting death: Gun was federal agent's, source says - CNN.com

If he's here illegally, how is it a human rights violation to send him back to his home country? (OK, in one piece)

Thats not a human right violation. TD (who I was responding to)seemed to be saying he should be killed and essentially calling open season on returning immigrants... "the killer needs to be returned to mexico-one piece at a time... there is something to be said for deported felons who return being fair game." Then he essentially called for execution of returning immigrants or jail for life... "people who commit felonies-are then deported to the country from which they came and then re-entered should be shot on site or jailed for life if they are caught committing another felony since they have proven that deporting them doesn't stop their predations."

Excuse me, WTF is a "returning immigrant"? Is that some new Politically Correct term for an illegal?

this is turning into a True Detective episode. and it will gain momentum and become a BIG part of the upcoming election. It could really give the GOP candidates traction, no doubt.

At this point, this information sort of supports the suspect's claim that he picked up a cloth wrapped object, and it was gun that went off unexpectedly. However, it remains to be fleshed out how this suspect and the gun came together.

No, they are illegals.

Tell you what, go up to somebody who entered the country legally and tell them there is no difference between them and those that run-jump and swim across the border in the dark of night. Let's see how well they like that, eh?

My wife is an Immigrant. She worked and fought and got her legal status, waiting in line and doing all the paperwork and oaths and other legal requirements. Illegal immigrants are largely criminal parasites who refuse to do the right and legal thing for personal selfish reasons.

So "illegal immigrants" arent immigrants? But here we go getting held up on semantics....

If I said the word immigrant? Why are semantics important to you? Why is one word something that needs to be debated? Instead of the substance of the post you quoted you pick something petty to get hung up on.

Wait so "illegal immigrants" arent immigrants, but now they are but arent?

wrong again. I am not responsible for what someone who buys a gun from someone I sold it to. your argument essentially demands a complete ban on firearms-which of course, we have seen you advocate before.

Excuse me, WTF is a "returning immigrant"? Is that some new Politically Correct term for an illegal?

he pretends that I was NOT referring to people who

a) came here illegally

b) committed a felony while in the USA illegally

c) was deported

d) came back here illegally

e) and committed another felony

yeah I say at that point shoot them or throw away the key

yeah I say at that point shoot them or throw away the key

I am nowhere near that hard on the issue, but I do believe that such individuals should be treated harshly if they continue.

First detainment: Deport them, with a note in the record saying that they can return only after they fill out all legal requirements for anybody who wants to enter the country legalls.

Second detainment: Deport them, with a note in the record saying that as a serial repeat offender, they are not allowed to ever befome a Resident and can only enter for visitation purposes after first gaining all legal approvals needed.

Third detainment: Arrest them, sentence them to the appropriate jail time then kick them out.

Fouth and subsequent detainments: Increasing jail sentences and deportation.

Look, personally i really do not care a lot how somebody enters the country. Legally or illegally. What I care about is what they do once they are in the country. Get a lawyer and/or go to INS on their own recognizance and make the formal request to become a Resident Alien (and eventually citizen), and I am actually rather ambivilent about it. But the majority do not even bother to do that, they simply live here illegally for years or decades, never trying to become Legal Residents.

I have no pity for the lazy who refuse to "do the right thing", then cry and act like spoiled children when they are caught and then sent home.

The use of the term "returning immigrant" is a not so thinly veiled attempt to imply a moral equivalency between those who enter this country illegally and those who do so legally. It is truly insulting to those who have gone through a very lengthy, stressful, and expensive process for the privilege to live in this country. The fact that you would be so callous as to imply that there is no difference in status or legitimacy between the two speaks volumes to the position of sheer and utter ignorance that you are coming from.

Jesus ****ing christ. You guys get really held up on words dont cha...

I'm not a liberal

Didn't say you were. I'm talking about people like Feinstein and Boxer and all the other anti-gun fanatics who think San Francisco screwed up.

Just pointing out the hypocrisy

I don't think it's hypocritical to advocate for personal responsibility and enforcement of the law at the same time. Part of personal responsibility is obeying the law and using your voice as a citizen to point out when others, including government, don't.

I dunno, the more I read about this illegal immigrant, the more kinda feel sorry for him...and the young woman and her family of course. But would any of this of happened if someone didn't leave a federal agents gun wrapped up in a t-shirt near a park bench for some homeless person to find and not knowing it was a gun or that it was loaded, accidently fire it when picking it up? Because that's what it's starting to look like happened, imo.

Was marijuana the drug he was charged with?

Again with the ignorance. <sigh>

You chose to use the term "returning immigrant" over a variety of other, more accurate terms like "illegal immigrant" purposefully. Your purpose in choosing "returning immigrant" is transparent and obvious.

When deception becomes necessary to advance the cause, it's time to start questioning the cause...

I met my wife in Russia almost ten years ago. Getting engaged was the easy part. Going through the process of getting her a visa, then a temporary residency, and then a permanent residency... that part sucked. It was very expensive, very stressful, and so invasive that I was ashamed and embarrassed after it was finally done for having to put her through it.

To go through that and then hear some ignoramus refer to some degenerate, ILLEGAL, murdering bastard as a "returning immigrant" is just too much. That kind of blanket stupidity needs a spotlight put on it.
