Subway's Jared Fogle the target of a police raid...

Gee, I'm so honoured that you went out of your way to post that intellectual gem, and directed it at me. I'll have to mark this day in my diary.

Well, with your obviously high-powered and somewhat incongruent knowledge of America particularity, corporate America, it's me who should be honored.

This is why I keep saying that we need to be a people of law, not just a nation of laws. The fact that everyone wants to jump to conclusions based on no evidence ends up burning more innocent people than it does accelerate justice on the wicked.

All that we know is that Fogle's home computer and etc. were seized. What I'd like to know is how the camera people knew to be there when the raid began.

I'll post a response once I translate that into English.

I don't think Subway was jumping to conclusions. The decision was made solely based on the investigation of a very disturbing crime. Regardless of whether Fogle is innocent or guilty he's tainted while the investigation is ongoing. Subway really had no choice. I will be curious to know if Fogle will successfully be able to be brought back into the Subway fold if this goes away.

They had a choice. I am sure the decision makers would want their employer to presume innocence if one of their acquaintances were charged with a crime.

Or, more personally, imagine one of your acquaintances was charged with a crime and law enforcement subpoenaed your computer because they felt it may have information pertinent to the case. Would you feel your employer was justified suspending you?

His real crime should be peddling that crap corporate horse trough pseudo-nutrition Subway deems as food.
Yes, because food you don't like is orders of magnitude worse than child porn. You may want to check your priorities.

Or maybe Subway Corporate got more information about the investigation than we have and made the decision on that.

I'm not a spokesperson and public face of a very large franchise company though. Also the nature of the crime does play a factor. All I'm saying is Subway's decision is perfectly understandable given the situation. Subway didn't create the problem and in all likelihood neither did Fogle, but they both ended up in the middle of a PR nightmare that could have huge financial repercussions for all parties.

IDK that they would need any more information than the Feds searched his house for Child Porn to know they needed to distance themselves till at least the investigation was complete.

I'd also be dumbfounded if there wasn't a "morality" clause in place in his contract.

Jared has yet to be convicted of child pornography. Has he been charged? However, shamelessly whoring himself out to food that is barely edible much less nutritious to an unsuspecting pubic should be a priority to those who care about their health.

Well, the "PR Nightmare" is a function of the expectation that the public are a bunch of quick-to-judge idiots. Maybe they are right. If Fogle is innocent then he should sue the police department into the stone age.

Yep, your priorities are definitely out of whack. I'll be sure to give your opinion all the weight it deserves.

Meanwhile, Thought Police, let me know when he has been formally charged.

No, that's America for you - in America, if corporations don't get out in front of the politically correct mob, the mob tries to destroy them. Subway simply did what your country has trained them to do whenever there is a hint of a problem. The attack on cultural icons in the Confederate Flag stampede is a perfect example. If Subway didn't move, they'd be tarred as supporting child porn.
You are correct. And this is why I keep saying that "innocent until proven guilty" is a myth. Forget the high-minded rhetoric, when push comes to shove, we don't really mean it.

Now, there's always some yahoo who comes along and says that's for court only. Phfft. If we don't believe it in our day to day lives, we're not going to apply it in court, either. It is the very rare person who can and will successfully do that.

Thought Police? You must have me confused with a progressive.

Even if he is proven innocent beyond doubt, I'd bet you money Subway will never employ him again. This won't be the official reason, of course.

What do you do for a living? Be honest. We need to know if you "shamelessly whore yourself out" for some ethically questionable activity in exchange for a paycheck.

I'm sorry if I offended you in any way Subway employee.

Can you answer the question, or not?

Here, let me be kind and refresh your memory: What do you do for a living? Be honest. We need to know if you "shamelessly whore yourself out" for some ethically questionable activity in exchange for a paycheck.
