Christ also didn't say anything about rape or pedophilia. He did define marriage as a union between a man and a woman, and the New Testament is pretty clear on the subject.
Worth noting, Democrats: President Trump will have a Pen and a Phone. #Precedent.

There is a contingent in the church I grew up in (the Methodists) who are pushing.

If they are successful, then they will follow the path of all Churches who choose to conform to the world and seek the approval of man. A sad thing.

Jesus was an observant Jew. He didn't comment directly on rape or other issues either, but He certainly understood the teachings of the rabbis. And there is a reason He used Sodom and Gommorah as examples.

Did Jesus say anything about handling venomous snakes to prove one's faith? Apparently, this Christian didn't quite measure up...

Did Jesus mention anything about rolling on the floor like a spastic and spewing gibberish aka speaking in tongues?

Where did Jesus say that everyone who believes in him shall have the gift of prophecy? Don't be late for prophecy conference or you might miss the latest revelation about the end times......and the buffet.

"...After the 2008 nomination of Sarah Palin for Vice President of the United States, senior pastor Ed Kalnins' preaching was scrutinized by the media.[3] His sermons were available on the church website. USA Today reported the Huffington Post assertion that "Kalnins has preached that critics of President Bush will be banished to hell; questioned whether people who voted for Sen. John Kerry in 2004 would be accepted into heaven; and preached that the Sept. 11 attacks and the war in Iraq were part of a world war over Christianity".[4] Kalnins preached "I believe that Alaska is one of the refuge states... in the Last Days, and hundreds of thousands of people are going to come to this state to seek refuge. And the church has to ready to minister to them".[5]

Somehow I don't think any of that is what Jesus had in mind, taught or died for....and I question your authority to speak for him and pass judgment in God's name. I'm pretty sure the bible condemns you for doing it, too.
    Your username is apt.

You realize Christ is God, right?

    Some are morons, it happens.

Yes. My best friend is United Methodist and active in her church, and I'm aware that there are tensions among some. To paraphrase the Evangelical Lutheran bishop I cited earlier, "We are not of one mind."

There are those who want to split the Church and those who want to "federalize" the issue, and leave it at the local level, rather than at the General Conference level. All those are bad options. If you don't believe with the Methodist Church that strongly... well, you should leave. The Episcopalians need people.

Woah! Jesus defined marriage as between one man and one woman? Are you talking about Matthew 19 wherein he also said that anyone divorces is committing a sex sin and, simultaneously, does not define marriage?

In fact, His first miracle was performed at a wedding, thus honoring the union of a man and a woman.

Just leaving may not be a satisfactory option either for lifelong Methodists.
