California Drought Taking Serious Toll On Aging Sewer System In San Francisco « CBS San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — California’s severe drought is taking a serious toll on San Francisco’s aging sewer system.
Some of the city’s 1,000 miles of sewer pipes are more than 100 years old, among the first installed after the Gold Rush.
The waste was getting dumped into the streets, the streets were getting all muddy, and they thought, let’s do something about that. So, they built these pipes,” SFPUC Assistant General Manager Tommy Moala said.
I think it's time these ****ing liberals need to pay their fair share for new infrastructure. This bastion of liberalism with 100 year old sewer pipes..........PATHETIC. Don't ever preach to the rest of us about infrastructure again until you set the example.

You know public infrastructure nationally is a problem. Its not just "THOSE GODDAMN LIBERALS!!!!! GAHHH THEY SUCK!!! MIGHT AS WELL BLAME THOSE SEWERS ON LIBERALISM!!!"
2013 Report Card for America's Infrastructure

Wohooo D+ :sarcasticclap clearly its liberals!

Yes it is LIBERALS, they have big mouths with little results............typical for liberals..............poor people stay poor and sewers unimproved after 100 years. Why trust them, they're all talk and no action.

Why did they block it? Get back to me.

Oh... Because of the reason, "There is a funding target date"? :lamo What kind of serious reason is that? Oh yea its this kind of reason, "oh crap this amount in 6 years!? Crap, crap, crap! We might have to raise taxes!" (AKA calls for an expansion) which we all know, "**** we have to fund more, we have to raise taxes then increase guberment AKA bad bad bad" :doh

Oh yea but then again there is a way to fund it, but remember "guberment BAD! Raising taxes on rich BAD!"
"President Obama’s proposal of a one-time 14 percent tax on nearly $2 trillion of foreign earnings is gaining traction among Democrats and some Republicans as a way to fund infrastructure projects. Major American companies are supposed to pay a 35 percent tax on overseas earnings, but many use a legal loophole that allows them to keep the earnings in other countries indefinitely.
In Obama’s approach, companies such as Apple, Cisco Systems and Microsoft would have a one-time chance to pay taxes on overseas earnings at the much lower 14-percent tax rate. The proposal would also impose a permanent 19-percent tax on foreign earnings.
The plan would raise an estimated $238 billion in the coming years to underwrite infrastructure, while an additional $240 billion would come from the current federal tax on gas and other sources. In all, the six-year $478 billion proposal would provide a 33-percent funding increase for major public works projects. "

And you were blaming this on those big bad liberals, because........????

This has what to do with San Francisco sewers?

Shouldn't a drought NOT AFFECT sewers? I mean... there is no water in a drought, right?

That's what I thought too, so I read the article. :D

You might think that the drought would give the sewer system a break, with not as much water going through it. But, while San Franciscans are sending less water down the drain because of conservation, the same, or more sewage is being sent through the system that isn’t being drained as well as before.
“It’s an organic material. It breaks down. It creates hydrogen sulfide. That eats up the concrete in the pipes if it sits there long enough,” Moala said.

You blamed liberals for poor infrastructure, and you then used San Francisco as an example. I then said, "okay if its an ideology which is the problem with the public infrastructure why not look towards our national congress for examples having to do with public infrastructure?". And posted an example about funding such an infrastructure project. But for some reason the amendment was rejected by Republicans (who are 98.8% of the time not regarded as "Liberals"). You then responded to "Why did they block it? Get back to me". So I got back to you to the various reasons why Republicans (98.8% of the time the party of Conservatives AKA opposite on the very narrow political spectrum) opposed it. So does it not have to do with liberalism? Or does it? Because if liberalism has to do with something about drought, thus causing "waste was getting dumped into the streets, the streets were getting all muddy", one would expect better public infrastructure bills being passed left and right by those conservatives in congress, especially when our infrastructure system is rated D+..

But then again.... You dont see that.

But then again... "Few things in America have lasted 150 years. San Francisco’s sewer system is a working relic but one that works

---****! Liberals! With their good sewer system, but causing liberal problems with their drought problems! Conspiracy!!!

"With thousands of people moving into San Francisco, the city’s infrastructure continues to be taxed, no more so than the sewer system. But, sewer workers say they’ll do their best. It’s their duty."

--- Silly liberals! I bet they call for a tax hike! But wait if they do, I bet those conservatives come marching out against it! But remember if you call for help from the feds, it most likely wont be there hence the amendment that got rejected by those conservatives (AKA the US infrastructure heroes)

I think that he meant that Liberals caused the drought by conducting an Anti-Rain Dance while frolicking with Vegans under the pagan moon while secretly plotting against Christians, but then again my comprehension skills are severely lacking.

If you go on infowars, Alex Jones has secret video of that.

I think San Fransiscans not being adequately able to deal with their own **** is poetic justice.

Infrastructure is liberal.

Also, drought.

Bastions of conservatism like Alabama have amazing infrastructure, of course.

No, federally funded union slush funds that waste billions under the guise of "infrastructure projects", while accomplishing little, are liberal.

Likewise, when a state wastes billions of gallons of water on a minnow like fish and then cries the blues because there's a "drought", that's liberal.

Do what the law requires and kick all the illegals out of the city and the sewers would work fine.

It's a liberal city, dude. What don't you get about that? They should be setting the example. Plastic pipe doesn't care if there's water or not. Get a clue.

Well still you're ignoring this whole part of the article: "Few things in America have lasted 150 years. San Francisco’s sewer system is a working relic but one that works

Who's fault is it that it hasn't been updated? Where's Nazi Pelosi when you need her?

She's about as old as those sewer pipes, and worse looking.

Its never needed to be updated, and I dont think even updating it would do much of a difference because (again) as the article points out: “It’s an organic material. It breaks down. It creates hydrogen sulfide. That eats up the concrete in the pipes if it sits there long enough,”

And is everyone a mythical nazi or fascist in your mind?

You're kidding, right?

Are you also chastising those using the term "Taliborn"? No? Didn't think so.
