You know who else has ties to the KKK? Democrats.
Yup. And so do Republicans.
You know who else has ties to the KKK? Democrats.
Well the KKK was originally started by disgruntled confederates. The white robes represented the ghosts of confederate soldiers. They were largely Democrats who modern day Republicans use to **** on modern day Democrats whenever they feel like "exposing" racism. Then they turn that all around, when it comes to defending the confederacy. They suddenly stop being Democrats and they're ancestors who can only be remembered through the flag. You can't make this up.
I just want to see which candidate is willing to put actions behind their words.Looking to pal around with someone while you're there?
Most of whom used to be Democrats.
I know. Is this a history lesson or something?
Not at all, except for those Democrats who seem to think that all the racism has always been on the right. Nothing could be further from the truth.
It wasnt that Democrats back in the late 1800's were the liberals and Republicans were the conservatives, or whatever description of ideology you want to call it. It was generally reversed. Democrats party of states rights and small government, Republicans party of what is often described for one way or another "big government" and strong federal power.
And now we have nothing but big-government, anti-responsibility, live-beyond-your-means parties, one is loony left, the other is religious right, both are essentially "liberal". When do we get conservatism back?
No one is outlawing public displays of the flag. There is nothing un-American about state governments removing a battle flag, flown by an army dedicated to splitting the Union in half. There certainly isn't anything illegal about retailers choosing voluntarily not to sell a product. Nor is anyone making it illegal to display the Confederate battle flag. This is crap about the flag is just plain Un-American.
So you're OK with losing a whole bunch of court cases and with 9 people in a church being shot to death, but you're not OK with a bunch of southern states removing Confederate flag displays? THAT is where you draw the line?In the past few weeks we've raged against free speech in the flag flap, changed the definition of marriage and decided that "...established by the states" means exactly the same thing as "...established by the federal government". There's always going to be some stuff going on that some of us don't like. That's the way life goes. At some point we all need to grow the **** up and learn how to deal with things that bother us without forcing other people to give up their beliefs and freedoms.
They usually are.I don't know why the KKK aren't considered terrorists, given their history.

They're predominantly White so of course they're not being called terrorists. That label is reserved for brown people. They usually are.
There was also a big article last week which pointed out that white supremacist and anti-federal-government terrorists have killed more people in the US than Muslim terrorists since 9/11.

The confederate Flag came into promenence as a pop culture icon with the opposition of the Civil Rights movement that was picking up steam in the 1950's. It was a giant F-YOU to the government and a display of hatred to Blacks at that time. That's the Heritage of the South.I'm not "OK" with any of that stuff and it takes a pretty damned warped reading of what I wrote to come up with that theory.
The flag is a symbol of southern heritage and its meaning is defined by the actions of southerners. I would like to note that part of that heritage is not only overcoming the effects of the war and the history of racism but THRIVING since those practices were abolished. Furthermore, the people of Charleston (and across the south) appointed themselves with a level of dignity and grace after the shooting at Emanuel AME that we should all aspire to. THAT is the heritage of the south.
Give that stupid meme a rest. You don't understand why the southern racists were Democrats? For one reason only, they would not be associated with the "party of Lincoln". That all changed when Johnson signed the Civil Rights act because apparently that was worse than freeing the slaves. Now the racists are all Republicans because the GOP speaks their language.
I'm glad to see you acknowledge that the Democratic Party has been the party of race discrimination from the start. One of our two Progressive presidents, Woodrow Wilson, was a Southerner who was a virulent racist. He was especially offended by the idea of blacks attending his beloved Princeton. Wilson, who had a PhD., concealed his racism behind a veneer of intellectual sophistication. Today's white leftists try to hide their race prejudice by stridently claiming it infects only white conservatives, against whose vicious hatred they are always trying to protect blacks. But just listen to the nasty garbage that leftist dim bulbs never tire of slinging at Justice Thomas! I always wonder if these sorry specimens hate Clarence Thomas because he refuses to humbly follow the statist party line, as they expect good Negroes to do, or because he was uppity enough to marry a white woman.
No it actually started by Scotsmen in the South, fed up with the fact that the South had no protection after the war. See the Scottish call themselves clans, so they banded together to be the ones to protect the South because the police of the time weren't doing squat. When they were no longer needed, the KKK was disbanded, only to be hijacked in the 1960's into the racist bunch we know today
Having problems with basic English?
No. So your position is now that every party is a liberal party? Uhhh, what?

Then perhaps you should read what you wrote. You certainly seem to be saying that "we should accept political setbacks," in the midst of a tear about how This Aggression Will Not Stand.I'm not "OK" with any of that stuff and it takes a pretty damned warped reading of what I wrote to come up with that theory.
Please, spare us such nonsense. The flag is a symbol of southern heritage....
Have you NOT noticed that it was the people of Charleston, and across the South, that are the ones pushing to remove said flag?I would like to note that part of that heritage is not only overcoming the effects of the war and the history of racism but THRIVING since those practices were abolished. your point?
Both parties are big government. Both parties are anti-fiscal-responsibility. Both parties are authoritarian. Both parties want to control what the people can do. Sounds pretty liberal to me.
There is too much silliness in those posts to bother with them.
Liberal =/= authoritarian.
Best marketing ploy from the right-wing authoritarian party you despise so much: convince people that liberal = big government, conservative = small government.
