The founding fathers were very specific in wanting an independent judiciary because they had experienced the alternative.
Once you make the courts susceptible to private or partisan influence you will see a vast increase in unjust rulings. I think you believe that elections somehow make judges more answerable to the public but really what you end up with are robed lawyers would answer to the likes of Google and ExxonMobil.
