as pointed out to you, if you are not a criminal (and I don't know, maybe this is why you are so scared of the US), you have little chance, of being a victim of a gun crime.

what is it with facts, that you don't want to deal with?
If you build an army of 100 lions and their leader is a dog, in any fight, the lions will die like a dog. But if you build an army of 100 dogs and their leader is a lion, all dogs will fight like a lion.

So it really depends on where you're at. If he thinks he's safer with the Jihadists on Tunisian beaches, then he can go there. I'd rather take my chances with the sharks or Vibrio in Destin or Navarre or Gulf Shores and keep my money at home. Being the victim of an Islamist wielding a Kalashnikov never enters my calculus, and I'd rather not have to see gun-toting security in sight on my vacation.

    urban myth.

especially among the days of such militarized forces.

and I agree, though seeing the whole antiguan army board a single zodiac to run a drill, was quite entertaining the last time I saw it.

I had a friend mugged at gunpoint after he had just arrived in Miami in the airport car park . Apparently this happens so regularly to foreign tourists there its barely reported any more so forgive me if I take your claims with a pinch of salt.

Right, or your friend was cruising for underage boys and got ripped off. **** happens in the big city. don't know your friend, so, you could be right.

do you have statistics on muggins at gun point, or are we supposed to believe "they say" confirmation bias as evidence of a pandemic of tourist muggings?

Well, if you give me nothing but a confirmation bias fallacy, I have to get creative. *shrug*

There was a period back the the early 1990s when rental cars were targeted in Florida. Coincidentally, this rise in these "smash and grab" and "bump and run" robberies targeting tourists happened after Florida began issuing large numbers of concealed-carry permits. Once the state removed the word "Lease" from these cars and the rental companies removed promotional bumper stickers these robberies declined significantly.

No ban, true, but your government either advises against travel to certain areas or only essential travel. The advisory covers a large area of the country.

Okay, so now you're shifting the argument from the present to what existed in the wake of 9/11. Even then I don't recall foreign governments evacuating their citizens from the U.S.
