Do you like his artwork? I do, I like his works a lot. But dark times have come, Shepard is going to be arrested. According to police his murals caused about $9,000 in damage. Police also puts in minds that he’s a vandal, no matter how famous he is.

His artwork is fine. If he painted on that building without permission of the owners he absolutely should be charged with vandalism.

It's Detroit. How could paint do anything but raise the property value?

Detroit reminds me of a hunk a junk car where it's value is determined by how much gas is in it.

No matter if I like the art or not, what is relevant here is permission. If he did not obtain permission to do this then it is vandalism.

Here in Toronto, we've had similar issues to the point where the City and local businesses often hire/commission "graffiti vandals" to create such "art" in areas where buildings have been defaced. It saves having to continuously whitewash such "art" in a never ending losing battle.

Personally, I too enjoy a lot of the "art" that is created in this manner, provided it's not vulgar or gang related.

Google should just by Detroit instead of Trinidad. Bulldoze it and start over.

There is some REALLY good street art out there. But you can't let people go around painting on buildings without permission, particularly if it is a building that people live in. People who use the building should have a say over its appearance.

That said, there are some street artists whose judgement is so good I would likely let it pass. Such artists usually limit their art to unused space on public property that was initially an eyesore and their art just makes it a more beautiful place and brings a smile to passerbys.

His artwork ?

Meh, I prefer Banksy.

If he painted his artwork on someone else's property without permission then he needs to be held responsible for his actions.

Being a gator fan I love going to the city of Gainesville. They have a few walls and underpasses that are all painted up. Looks better than a blank wall.
