Farrakhan has a point. However, his rationale is disgustingly irrational as usual. I think the man has a death wish.

The American flag represented the colonies that fought in the revolution, not slavery.

America learned the error of its ways and it changed. The Confederacy died fighting, in part, for the right to enslave people.

Now, if the Confederacy had won its independence it probably would have, in time, ended slavery on its own. It might be a country today in which everyone had equal rights and their flag represented a new and improved nation.

But that isn't what happened. And thus the two flags can't be compared.

Almost every southern state that signed a secession document sites slavery as the reason for it's secession. Sorry, you can't rewrite history when it has already been written and documented.

Looks like a CNN anchor was also positing whether the Jefferson Memorial should be razed because Jefferson owned slaves.


CNN anchor Ashleigh Banfield this week questioned whether the Jefferson Memorial should be taken down because Jefferson owned slaves. "There is a monument to him in the capital city of the United States. No one ever asks for that to come down," Banfield said.

I wasn't saying farrakhan spoke for liberals. I'm saying the arguments liberals make against the confederate flag can be made just as easily about the american flag.

And they used nullification as the basis for this, as stated by Sen. John C. Calhoun from SC.
And as he stated, slavery was for the "positive good".

While almost all other Southerners called it a necessary evil.
Yet Sam Houston refused to sig the document .

While making reference to her Indian America history.
Though not as blatant as the insults to Gov. Haley when she first ran against the SC establishment to win the GOP primary .
 
Which is why Conservative governors, etc. throughout the South including Strom Thurmond's son disagree with you .

The Black Loyalists would strongly disagree with you, the American flag represented slavery and bondage while the British flag represented freedom. Thousands of slaves joined the British ranks and many of them and their descendants fought for their freedom again in the War of 1812.
