Well, SC's secession declaration documents said the abolitionist movement had been going on for 25 years and that it had reached a pinnacle when the abolitionist president got elected and said, "I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free." that was the final straw.

The Stars and Stripes might have flown but it never represented slavery.

It would seem that the reason for session was the election of Lincoln, not that slavery wasn't in some people's agenda for that, but the actual reason was Lincoln....NOT the revision now being pushed by the very group, that back then were among the people calling to preserve slavery to the south....

And why did they oppose Lincoln? Because he was an abolitionist.

The Confederate flag represented the states that fought in the War of Northern Aggression, not slavery.

The north didn't start the war. The South started a war of aggression (treason) to keep the institution of slavery, so their flag represents what they fought for...slavery.

The American flag has waved over many more atrocities than the Confederate flag but I see denial works for you.

They are both flags of rebellion but the Confederate flag is one of a LOSER. Are you saying the United States lost its war of rebellion? The losers in history are always forgotten as they should be.

Why you try to adore the flag of a loser I can't fathom. Are you all losers too? Is that the reason for the fascination?

How many times do we need to say this before it sinks in? I mean, it's as simple as picking up a book and reading, but no - that'd be too easy. :roll:
 
The civil war was fought over slavery not states rights.

Ok let's say slavery was the only reason West Virginia separated from Virginia.

We still have seperate but equal Jim Crow to today's systemic racism in the police state that kills black men every day in America*

Don't tell me the rebel flag is a divisive symbol of slavery and stand there with your hand over your heart as the National Anthem is sang staring at that flag that flew over many a slave ships.






* source is well who needs a source it's what everyone thinks and it's plausible in this racist nation so be it.
