Man Toting Shotgun Opens Fire in Philadelphia leaving seven people hurt

Crazy gun people.

(Incoming 500+ pro gun zombies)

Oh Pete...that's just silly. You get that people have been saying stupid things like that since CCW became a "thing" 40 years ago. Ohmigawsh...it'll be the Wild Wild West, license to kill...blood will fill the gutters!!!!

Not so much....

With all the nut cases around these days you think they should be required to carry a gun? No thanks. I am sure the police would love this idea............... NOT!

I'm all in favor of the rule of law, so I don't understand your point. I favor well-crafted laws and proper enforcement thereof. Laws that are founded on constitutional principles.

But the laws don't stop people from breaking them. Sort of by definition, crimes only exist when the law is broken. So does any law ever prevent any crime? Why do we have laws?

You think the police are l;oving dealing with average citizens TODAY? What with the steady drumbeat of hatred towards 'the cops'? Maybe the cops would have to engage a little less. Regardless...your fears have to date been proven unfounded.

I guess if I have multiple guns I am more likely to kill than if I have only one. There is also the belief that if you take away my gun/guns I will be unable to kill. If I decide to kill someone I would most likely use a crossbow anyway.

If you need some crossbow advice just PM. Get an Excalibur!

Wound you require every adult to carry a gun?

No. I just wouldnt fear it.

If you want solutions, I think people need to be taught 'battle mind'. Battle mind doesnt require a gun...but it does put you in the mindset that when tragedy occurs the first thing you do is NOT look for a comfortable place to die. Get people in survival mode rather than victim mode and these shootings are a lot less severe.

No. I wouldnt require it. I'd encourage responsible citizens to learn how to protect themselves. If that involves carrying a firearm...so be it.

I don't think I will go back to shooting on regular basis again until after I retire. I gave all my guns to my younger brother. He still manages to find time to shoot and my nephew will be shooting in a few more years. I sort of lost interest or haven't found the time to shoot in the last 10 years. I kept one gun for self defense. The last thing I shot was one of these new pellet rifles. They are awesome. My brother goad me into shooting it. Claiming that because I no longer shoot I have lost my edge. I hit a dime at 75 feet first and only shot. I was not going to let him prove it was just luck. I think I would actually enjoy shooting these new pellet rifles. I never owned a crossbow but I really enjoy shooting them. For now all effort is making sure I put away enough money to retire.

These sheep who think you need a gun to kill are so misinformed. At 6'4" and 300lbs my biggest fear has been hitting some idiot to hard and killing them. I have worked out for years on a 65lb bag and can easily do it. One of my best friends actually did kill a drunk who attacked him. He was lucky to get off with 10 years probation. He had multiple witnesses he was being attacked. He was only 160lbs. One hit and the man was dead. Scary. This is what I fear. Spending years in jail for defending myself thanks to a jury of sheep.

my kid "liberated" my 10 year old PCP air rifle and he talked me into buying him a compressor so he doesn't have to fill it up with a bike pump. he gets about 30 shots per fill with this 22 caliber air gun and it shoots at about 900 FPS. he wasted 100 starlings in one day that were flocking to our mulberry tree by the horse barn. he sat in the barn and the starlings up high couldn't see him. he said he went through about 115 pellets and with a 550 yard cornfield behind our barn misses don't clear the property. those PCPs are awesome but they aren't cheap

An armed society is a polite society. Shooters rarely go on spree's where they are likely to be shot.

How can you say that...the Dallas police station shooter could never have thought shooting up a Texas police station would end well. Some do it to die....suicide by cop or they take their own life.

These copycat shooters are just following the mass media's queue, because all they do is give 24 hour footage to the killers whenever stuff like this happens. News networks are directly responsible for this repeating over and over because they give too much air time to these incidents. The crazies who snap and shoot up Churches are learning that they can earn some level of legitimacy when they carry out their acts.

Here in Canada, if a mad man shoots down a bunch of people, the RCMP lock down the scene and we don't hear anything until they complete their investigation. Then again, mass shootings aren't that common here because we don't let crazy people have guns.

I dont read these freaks "manifesto's" as a matter of policy. I dont care why they did what they did. **** them.

#1 I don't even know that party

#2 I don't care about what they call themselves

#3 Here in America, we associate conservative with gun rights, not gun control. That is all that matters.

UK can call themselves what they want. That's why we won the war and got away from them. So we can call ourselves what we want ;)

Well I'd think that a libertarian of all people would want to at least acknowledge the existence of ideas outside of the mainstream, but whatever.

I agree they're messed up, but the number of mass killings has increased dramatically in the past 10 years. Don't you think it's important that we examine why, as a matter of prevention?

Virtually every mass shooter was on a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor for mental health problems.

We should take away peoples guns and lock them up in the same place we lock anyone up that ever attents a protest. You know, because we feel like it's perfectly acceptable to ignore constitutional rights if a few people misuse them in the process of committing violence....

Here in the US, we have the Supreme Law which creates the federal government and defines how it shall act.

We have statutory law to facilitate government operation. As for the criminal law, we have that to allow a supposedly civilized method to punish transgressions. It allows society to punish certain behavior within a legal framework in which, supposedly, all men are equal before the law.

That should tell us something about medicating youngsters "off label".

Thats a really stupid idea, it would allow people to murder and say the person drew a gun on me so I shot him. Not a well thought out idea, faithful.

My point is that there is more than one solution to this problem. Just as arming everyone who can legally carry a firearm is not the solution, so is DIS-arming everyone who can legally carry a firearm not the solution. The answer lies somewhere in-between, but as long as the discussion comes down to "Come and take it!!" vs "Get rid of all guns" and nothing between, there never will be a good solution.
