I think the gun banners and the climate warmers should get together on this one. Clearly, when the temperatures are too hot, people get uncomfortable and cranky and little things irritate and then, boom, out comes the artillery. I blame global warming.
On a serious note, just as an outside observer, I don't see how this late in the game any talk of significant gun control could be accomplished when your Supreme Court has upheld a constitutionally protected right for citizens to be armed, when you have over 300 million firearms of one sort or another in circulation, and any attempt to confiscate them would result in far more death and destruction than any mentally ill person could commit. Just think, even if it was a good idea, you can't come to any agreement on how to deal with 20 million, give or take, illegal aliens running loose and you want to outlaw gun ownership of 300 million plus guns? Good luck with that.
A Canadian conservative is one who believes in limited government and that the government should stay out of our wallets and out of our bedrooms.
My point is that while in mainstream U.S. debate, we traditionally associate gun control with the left and gun rights with the right, it's a very unique issue and does not follow the traditional left-right paradigm.
Social democrat is no longer an accurate description of my views.
Another racist white terrorist (2, including the shooter in Detroit)?
I’m not quite sure I see the link between killing and political affiliation. If a white man (why is it always men), guns down a black man, does that mean he’s a right wing racist crazy, or is it because he had a grudge for whatever reason against someone who happened to be black?
‘More whites than blacks are victims of deadly police shootings.’ — Michael Medved on Tuesday, August 19th, 2014 in a Web post from the "Michael Medved Show"
‘Over the span of more than a decade, 2,151 whites died by being shot by police compared to 1,130 blacks.’ Politifact.com, 2015.
Why does it have to turn into a black racial issue, followed by riots?
Last year Muslims went on the rampage in Kunming, China. Not a gun in sight and 29 dead, chopped to pieces with axes and knives before the police shot them.
Perhaps it’s not guns then, but as I’ve said elsewhere, a reflection of the society we live in?
How many more guns will do it?
What da ya' think?
Maybe 500M (1/2 Billion) total, will make us safe as the countries that have less?
The NRA never tells us the end-game - just that we need more.
