A woman will appear on redesigned $10 bill in 2020

I wish this thread were a poll because I would vote to replace the Andrew Jackson bill with...Sacajawea, Florence Nightengale, or Eleanor Roosevelt, or

It's sad that there aren't more women to choose from simply because most weren't allowed to take credit for anything they did on their own or in partnership with men unless they pretended they were male.

They'll probably choose an American woman.

Which is the greater accomplishment? Being DIRECTLY involved in the birth of this nation, or sitting on a bus?

What he did was great. Truly.
What she did was great. Truly.

Anybody that equates what she did to "sitting on a bus" has no business in honest debate, it is that ****ing pathetic. She was one of the first to stand up against "the system" that would affect her entire life and nobody knew how that would turn out, think of the fear and the courage to do what was right instead of the fact that she is a woman.

Depends on which POTUS chooses. Has anyone suggested Jenner yet? :lamo

Rosa Parks isnt even on the same PLANET as Hamilton when it comes to contribution to this country. This is just some progressive bull**** trying to erase the history of this great nation.

How is recognizing Parks erasing Hamilton... I can't even begin to fathom this one.

Replacing a Founding Father on a bill to make feminists happy? That is not acceptable. Apparently our history is not important anymore.

I am still not following... how is recognizing more people from American history, which literally is OUR HISTORY, replacing our history and making our history not important?

Is changing who is on the bill from time to time bad in some way and no, it is not to make feminists happy as I think that it is a good idea too, as long as they make the changes occur more often.

Find other ways of honoring her than REPLACING an established way to honor Founding Fathers. They should be on our currency, they built this nation, Rosa Parks didnt. Find another way to honor her, give her a day, I dont care...just dont step on what Hamilton did.

The Founding Fathers matter....its sad that so many people dismiss them. Its probably because we dont learn JACK **** about them in history classes.

You still have not said how having a founding father on currency and then taking them off dismisses that individuals relevance in our history...

It is not like the average Joe that has no idea who is on their bills learns history by seeing their face and those that already know already know.

Do you have more to your argument or is this just your opinion?

I already told you. It is an established way to honor the contributions of the Founding Fathers. Removing him from the bill also removes the extremely high precedent set for the people chosen to face the bill.

I dont quite understand how Rosa Parks even comes close to being in the same universe as contributing as much as Hamilton did....or anyone else on the bills for that matter.

I hate to repeat myself but you still have not said how having a founding father on currency and then taking them off dismisses that individuals relevance in our history...

In all seriousness, it doesn't even make sense. You also ignored my point that most people do not even know who the people are on the bill and even if they do, what they did that was important. Most Americans don't know who is on SCOTUS, what it does, who the vice president is, etc. The picture of some old dead guy on a bill is meaningless. What they actually did is what matters. That they are taught and studied, LIKE THEY ARE, is what matters... I am pretty sure that you get this but I also think that you are a sexist and that is what really pisses you off.

The precedent has been set. The people on the bills are Founding Fathers and Presidents. Rosa Parks is the square peg....or, more appropriately, not a peg at all. She is in consideration ONLY because we have had so few women make contributions. If she was put up against EVERYONE she wouldnt stand a chance.

Its a joke already that Sacajawea and Susan B. Anthony are on currency....why would we learn our lesson? Currency should be reserved for Founding Fathers and/or Presidents, people with a decades/centuries long body of work to make this country what it is....it should be an exclusive club by design.

Like I said...give her a holiday....but leave the bills alone. Hamilton earned it.

Fair enough... it is your opinion that the Founding Fathers stay and I don't disagree with that. I also don't really mind if the figures on the currency change.

I think that in some ways modernizing the money to more recent figures might actually draw people into history better than the Founders did, which is not at all.

Wouldnt now be the PERFECT time to educate people about our Founders?

He's probably right. Most people don't have a clue who Hamilton was anyway or what his contribution to the country was. I doubt if they could even tell you his name, even though it's written on the bill. It would make more sense to them to put Khloé' Kardashian's mug on the $10 bill. I'll bet they could tell you anything you'd want to know about her, too, down to her bra size or what brand deodorant she uses.
