Elderly Michigan man gets at least 27 years in prison for road rage killing

A 69 year old Michigan man was sentenced to 27-50 years in prison for shooting a driver in the face in a road rage encounter.

If this guy does 27 years he'll be 96 years old when he gets out. Let's hope that no one gives him a drivers license.

We don't need people like this on the highways.

In all those 69 years, did he never commit a violent act? That seems rather strange. There's a good chance he should have been in jail already, or at least not allowed on the road.
 
road rage, to me, is one of the most idiotic things we have to deal with.

if you're stressed out and get angry while driving... get off the ****ing road and walk, you have no place outside with other people... .sell you car and buy some nice shoes.

relax people,leave early,drive safe ....and enjoy the drive.
it makes no sense in the world to get angry while driving.

If they were that logical in their thinking they wouldn't have road rage to begin with.

in most cases road rage has little to do with the person driving but the other people around them being stupid.
I don't worry about myself driving it is all the other morons on the road.

logical like the guy that is 3 lanes over and cuts across those 3 lanes so he can make the exit that he wasn't paying attention to?

There already are more people on the highway than this guy, but they just have not snapped yet, if you get my drift.

no one is responsible for a persons rage other than the person who is raging.

ya can't control idiots on the road... but you can control how you respond to idiots on the road.
choosing to be angry only leads to bad things....

I think exiting the freeway from the left hand lane is a sort of game to some people. I give them points for it: If there are no other cars in the way: 5 points. If they have to cut in front of another car: 10 points. If they cut in front of a semi, 25 points. If the truck driver smokes the tires to keep from hitting him, 50 points. If the truck driver can't stop and smashes the idiot flatter than a bug, that's a full 100 points.

Those are Darwin points, of course. Getting to 100 in one maneuver is an automatic Darwin award.

As one who just turned 64y, I found that concerning.

I just learned that most references is that senior citizens are anyone over 65. So you become a senior at 65 and in just 4 short years you become elderly?

Living in Michigan, I've heard this terrible story already. Talk about a senseless death, and the wife saw it all unfold from inside of the car.

Good question, in my opinion it depends on your health, working in a hospital I've seen people like lifetime smokers that are 69, but look 85 feeble and sickly..

And on the flip side I've seen 69 year olds, that take care of themselves, go to the gym, pump iron and run on the treadmill..

Depends on the person..

Genetics plays a strong roll too....
 
It is possible to be driving in a sea of idiots and remain normal yourself. The victim here made a sad and fatal mistake. Do not confront idiots on the road. Telling an idiot that he or she is an idiot is a fool's errand.

Good he's where he belongs, at least justice was served, assholes like that have no business on the road , or in society in general..

And he will die in prison he's not gonna live to be 96, forgetaboutit ¡!!!!!!!

There was an article in local paper a few years back about 3 guys aged between 75 and 79 who are competitive powerlifters each squatting in the 350 pound range and bench pressing in 200 pound range. All were in good shape - and not qualifed as "in good shape for their age."

I was a competitive powerlifter in my younger days but stopped lifting heavy after tearing my meniscus. After seeing that I decided I wanted to be those guys when I grow up and went back to powerlifting. I just turned 54.

This is the thing. There's probably not one thing done to a road-ranger that he hasn't accidentally done to someone himself.
