His voting doesn't determine party membership. He voted against the nomination of John Brennan as Director of CIA when most of the Democratic Party supported it. If I had to classify him, I'd say he was a Socialistic Libertarian.

Since he's so independent, what issues does he vote with the Republican party on?
There are two kinds of people in the world, those who divide things into two groups, and those who don't. Again, voting doesn't determine party membership, joining a party determines party membership. Bernie has never joined.

Face it, he knows he can't win as an Independent and he may cherry pick the benefits he wants to take from the Democratic party. If he were to caucus with the Congressional Black Caucus, that wouldn't make him Black.

He doesn't oppose the Democratic ideas. He doesn't fight them. He blindly votes with them almost 100% of the time. He runs in his own state as something other than a Democrat because that flies in Vermont. He is a Democrat.

"Socialistic libertarian"? You're kidding, right? Is that like dry water?

Sanders is revered by The Communist Party USA. Nuff said.

Polling at this point is far less about platform than it is a name recognition popularity contest. This will change as he keeps gathering these large crowds... provided the media stop ignoring him so much to address the urgent stories of how Rick Perry sneezed today or Hillary bought a new pant suit.

It's like being for Social programs and against the Republican-styled authoritarian police state.

    Citation?
Bernie's not a self described Communist, but a self described Socialist.

I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

    I beg to differ.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he stops voting for the Free Fish party.

So you and I would be one of the former.

Now. If he' so independent instead of a liberal democrat with self-affirming delusions, what issues does he vote with the Republican Party on?
In America we have a two-party system, a Republican congressional staffer told a visiting group of Russian legislators. There is the stupid party. And there is the evil party. I am proud to be a member of the stupid party. Periodically, the two parties get together and do something that is both stupid and evil. This is called: bipartisanship."
